After emerging as a teen idol in the 1980s Fox TV series 21 Jump Street, Johnny Depp soon became a household name in the Hollywood entertainment industry with movies such as Edward Scissorhands, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Don Juan DeMarco and the internationally acclaimed adventure film series Pirates of the Caribbean.

Over the span of his nearly four-decade-long career, Johnny Depp has been romantically involved with some quite high-profile women. He has a history of falling fast for some of his ex-girlfriends. One such instance was his attraction to Winona Ryder which he once claimed to be love at first sight. It happened again when he moved on from ex-girlfriend Kate Moss and met French model Vanessa Paradis.

Johnny Depp Believes In Love At First Sight

Celebrity couples often become couple goals as the number of fans rooting for them manifolds with each new picture or public display of affection. Johnny Depp’s fans have had to root for the actor more than once as his dating life has been quite extensive.

The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory actor dated English model Kate Moss between 1994 and 1998. Following his breakup with Moss, he had initially planned to be single but the sight of a swan-like neck dissolved his resolve to do that while he was filming The Ninth Gate in France in 1998.

Johnny Depp believes in love at first sight and in an interview with Reuters, he recounted how he had felt an immediate connection with Vanessa Paradis. He said:

“I certainly believe in an instant and profound connection with someone, which is what happened to me. I had an instant connection with Vanessa’s back and neck … I was fascinated with this neck and she turned, looked straight at me, and wandered across the room and I thought: ‘You’re done, you’re up sh-t creek.’”

Thankfully, the connection was not one-sided and the two of them started dating in the same year. They even had two children together, namely Lily-Rose Depp and Jack Depp. This ended up being the longest relationship Depp has ever been in as the couple split in 2012.

Johnny Depp struck a chord with ex-wife Amber Heard during the filming of the 2011 movie The Rum Diary. At the time, he was in a relationship with Vanessa Paradis. Soon after his breakup with Paradis, he started dating Heard, and the two got married in 2015. However, the marriage was short-lived and they were legally divorced by January 2017.

The Depp v. Heard trial was highly publicized as millions of people across the world followed it. The trial ended in Depp’s favor and he reportedly dated his lawyer Joelle Rich briefly. Although he is still dating, he isn’t planning on committing to anyone.

While speaking of the Alice in Wonderland actor’s future plans, an insider told People:

“As soon as his tour ended, he jumped into filming Jeanne Du Barry. Filming was challenging, but Johnny is excited about the comeback. He thinks it’s perfect that this historical drama will open at Cannes. Johnny has been living in Europe since the trial. He has been dating, but doesn’t have a girlfriend.”

Johnny Depp had a major career setback between 2012 and 2020. His trial with Amber Heard resulted in him losing a leading role in the Disney movie franchise Fantastic Beasts. Hopefully, his attempts to make a comeback in the industry.
