After freshly winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film, Guillermo del Toro is putting the pieces together for his next potential live-action project Frankenstein. Eying the opportunity, Oscar Isaac and Andrew Garfield are teaming up to appear in the high-budget film for Netflix. As per Deadline, the actors are in negotiations to appear in Toro’s upcoming adaptation.
Without any official reports, simply based on claims, the Mexican filmmaker is with the dream of adapting Mary Shelley’s sci-fi cornerstone. With Netflix on board to finance and distribute the film, simply the star cast is yet to be decided. Personally focusing on the screenplay, Toro is set to adapt Mary Shelley’s magnum opus. Although few details are available, sources reveal internal titbits about the upcoming movie to Deadline.
Wishing upon his yearning passion project, Guillermo del Toro is coming off with his adaptation of Mary Shelley’s iconic Frankenstein. Having a strong relationship with Netflix, the Mexican filmmaker found the financer and distributor of his movie. Although it’s unclear if the movie will be set in the historic period or the modern era considering it’s an adaptation, Toro is definitely willing to put a spin on the classic novel. Describing the adaptation of Frankenstein as his strongest desire, Guillermo del Toro has been developing the project since 2014.
