According to reports, the previous year, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) filed a lawsuit against Tucker demanding unpaid taxes. The actor reverted with dismissal claiming the complaint was vague, for he owes no liability for certain years in between. Tucker cleared out the accounting for the revenue service, which was a massive insult based on their reputation.

IRS claimed Chris Tucker owed $9M debt over his unpaid taxes. Despite the constant conflict between the body and the actor, Tucker tried working out agreements with them. However, they were in vain. As per some documents, Tucker and Uncle Sam “engaged in settlement discussions” and have therefore asked to vacate deadlines. The government cleared out that, “specific terms are finalized,” however, “reaching a final settlement and obtaining approval could take longer than usual”.

The settlement filing provided to the court read,

Given the above, the United States thinks it would be most efficient to focus the parties’ time on resolving this case, if possible, without further litigation, to include trial. Both sides think there is a good chance of doing so.”

Therefore, both parties have asked for a tenure of two months for updating the court about their progress.

Chris Tucker’s Ongoing Feud With IRS

After debating and engaging in constant arguments with the IRS over their poor accounting, which led to the $9M debt calculation, Chris Tucker decided to settle the issue. The financial conflict of The Fifth Element actor’s unpaid debt was initiated in 2022, by IRS. Tucker was initially sued for $9.6M debt after defaulting on a payment plan, for which the court asked for definite judgment and a proper breakdown of the amount.

As per reports, IRS then took time to break down Tucker’s debt stating, “$4,489,647.01 for 2002, $2,124,082.86 for 2006, $2,341,269.29 for 2008 and $468,598 for 2010.” Further, the actor’s “alleged $253k debt for 2019” was filed in a separate lien. Due to different amounts and numerals being present in the statement, Tucker claimed IRS made a mistake with their poor accounting.

He further denied all allegations and argued the numbers presented by IRS were vague. He even denied his “$4.2 million for 2002 or $2.1 million for 2006.” debt. The Rush Hour actor’s lawyer stated, he simply owed, “$1.2 million for 2009 and another $468k for 2010” especially after selling off his Georgia home to pay off his debt to IRS in 2020.

Despite denying the accusations and trying to settle the issue on a lower scale, Chris Tucker had to finally come to a mutual understanding with IRS. He is therefore close to finalizing his settlement of $9M debt with the body.
