Alec Baldwin finally resumed shooting for Rust after the tragic death of the film’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins. According to reports, Baldwin’s charges against the Rust on-set shooting case have dropped. The Aviator star has reportedly been back to shooting his movie at the Yellowstone Film Ranch in Paradise Valley, Montana. In 2021 while rehearsing a scene, the actor accidentally misfired a prop gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the film set.

Recently, Alec Baldwin’s defense lawyers announced in their statement that the charges against the actor have been dropped. In January, Baldwin was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter after the gun he was using on set allegedly killed Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza. However, the actor has repeatedly claimed he did not pull the trigger on the set.

The Ghosts of Mississippi movie actor is one of the finest star performers’ in Hollywood. Alec Baldwin has appeared in several films like Glengarry Glen Ross, The Cooler, Working Girl, The Boss Baby, It’s Complicated, and Motherless Brooklyn. The actor was previously charged with involuntary manslaughter as he allegedly killed Rust film cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in 2021. Since the tragic incident, Baldwin finds himself embroiled in a controversy. The actor’s attorneys Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro recently issued a statement claiming that the case against Alec Baldwin had been dismissed and charges were dropped by prosecutors.

The statement said,

“We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin, and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident.”

In a statement regarding the shooting of Rust being resumed, after charges against Baldwin were dropped movie director Joel Souza said,

“Though bittersweet, I am grateful that a brilliant and dedicated new production team is joining the former cast and crew to complete what Halyna and I started. My every effort on this film will be devoted to honoring Halyna’s legacy and making her proud. The beauty of Montana surpasses words, and the warm hospitality and kindness extended by everyone I’ve met have been both humbling and inspiring. It is a privilege to work alongside such great partners as we see this through on Halyna’s behalf.”

Last week, the Prosecutors dropped the actor’s charges against Hutchins case. The Ukrainian cinematographer was killed on the New Mexico set of Rust after a gun Alec Baldwin was carrying killed her. Since the death of the beloved Halyna Hutchins, the shooting for the titular film has now been resumed. The actor is back on set, and the production team will be extra cautious this time to avoid another instance of what happened in the past.

Alec Baldwin Rust Shooting Case Charges Were Dropped

Alec Baldwin’s film Rust has resumed its shooting since the actor’s charges have dropped. The film’s production attorney Melina Spadone said in her public statement,

“The production will continue to utilize union crew members and will bar any use of working weapons and any form of ammunition. Live ammunition is — and always was — prohibited on set.”

In 2021, during the rehearsing of the scene for the titular film actor, Alec Baldwin was operating a prop gun that misfired and shot the cinematographer of the film Halyna Hutchins. She died in a tragic incident in October of the following year. 

Last year Alec Baldwin faced a criminal lawsuit filed by Hutchins’s husband Matthew Hutchins. He is now taking over as a newly appointed executive producer for Rust. Although the case has recently been dismissed according to reports, the actor can still face charges in the future. The prosecutors released a statement last week regarding the lawsuit and stated they can refile the case in the future. Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis said,

“Over the last few days and in preparation for May 3, 2023, preliminary hearing, new facts were revealed that demand further investigation and forensic analysis in the case against Alexander Alec Rae Baldwin, III.”

 It continued,

“Consequently, we cannot proceed under the current time constraints and on the facts and evidence turned over by law enforcement in its existing form. We therefore will be dismissing the involuntary manslaughter charges against Mr. Baldwin to conduct further investigation. This decision does not absolve Mr. Baldwin of criminal culpability and charges may be refiled. Our follow-up investigation will remain active and ongoing.”

The Boss Baby, movie actor’s manslaughter charges were finally dropped on Friday. As Rust’s film production has restarted, renowned filmmaker Rory Kennedy is working on a documentary on Alec Baldwin and Halyna Hutchins’ incident as per Variety.
