“All he wants to do is be a dancing queen”: Despite Hugh Jackman’s Numerous Claims, Wolverine May Not Be the Actor’s True Love
Hugh Jackman is making a much-awaited comeback with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool And Wolverine. The Australian actor announced his retirement back in 2017 and broke millions of hearts across the world. He rose to fame with Wolverine and became one of the most prominent faces of the billion-dollar superhero franchise, X-Men.
However, not many people know that Hugh Jackman’s love for dancing is greater than his love for his iconic character, as he himself revealed during a 2011 interview.
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Is Not His True Love
Hugh Jackman has been the face of Wolverine ever since its inception in the X-Men series. More than acting, he is more inclined towards dancing. During an interview with The Independent in 2011, Jackman spoke about his unconditional love for dancing. While talking about how dancing became a significant part of his life, and how it actually makes him happy, he said-
“I went to an all-boys school and the musical was with the local girl’s high school so everyone wanted to be at the musical. Not only was it cool, it was essential to be in a high-school musical. I think the world has changed, thankfully.
He further explained how the Australian culture changed over the years and dancing became a significant part of it. He said-
If you look at a certain weird 20-30-year period in dance, Australia was probably worse than anywhere else, where men used to stand on the side with their beer in the nightclubs, and the girls danced with their handbags in the middle of the circle… so that’s changed a little bit. I look up to Gene Kelly and all those greats. If you go to other places in the world, for instance, Argentina, and you go into those clubs, the greatest dancers are often 70-year-old men. They’re the ones with the hot chicks because they can tango. They can really dance. It’s a cultural thing.”

According to a viral clip of Hugh Jackman doing the round on X, it is quite evident that he enjoys dancing. However, Hugh Jackman might be playing the character of Wolverine for the last time, and according to him, he had a great time with Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds during the filming of Deadpool And Wolverine. Still, as an Australian, he enjoys dancing more than acting.
Shawn Levy Talks About Deadpool And Wolverine Stars Hugh Jackman And Ryan Reynolds
During an exclusive interview with People at the 76th annual DGA Awards, filmmaker Shawn Levy spoke about his upcoming project Deadpool And Wolverine. While addressing what can be expected from the talented actor duo, he said-
“I knew they were professionals. I knew they were the loveliest of gentlemen, but when you see them as Deadpool and Wolverine, something electric happens. And you’re in the presence of icons and even as their good buddy, that gave me a thrill many a day,” he continued, adding of the trio’s friendship, “Hugh, Ryan and I are very good friends in real life. We spend a lot of time together in real life.”
He further mentioned-
“It has corrupted my soul in ways that might be irrevocable. I often joke to Ryan that I was a nice Canadian boy who didn’t work blue … now I’m riffing R-rated content alongside the best in the business. So it’s a fun one for sure.”
The official trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine went on to create a record for the most watched trailer within 24 hours of its launch on YouTube. With Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman coming together for the most anticipated project of 2024, Shawn Levy’s Deadpool And Wolverine is expected to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2024.
Deadpool 3 will be hitting the theatres on July 26, 2024.
