Amber Heard Could Still Snatch Away $90 Million From Johnny Depp’s Pirates Movies Salary After Insurance Company Denies Paying Her
Amber Heard is clearly having a challenging time since the verdict of the defamation case between her and Johnny Depp. The actress is facing harsh criticism from fans and the media. In addition to that, the Aquaman actress was also ordered to pay her ex-husband Johnny Depp millions of dollars in damages. According to numerous reports, the actress is having trouble paying off her debt. Recently she even had some trouble with her insurance claims which made the situation harder for her. However, she might still have a trump card to build back her wealth and pay Johnny Depp.
Amber Heard needs to pay Johnny Depp for damages
Since the defamation trial verdict was announced in favor of Johnny Depp, Amber Heard has to pay damages. She has been ordered to pay a hefty sum of 10.35 million dollars to the Blow actor. The Aquaman actress has reportedly lost between 47 to 50 million dollars throughout the course of the trial. The actress is said to be on the verge of bankruptcy after losing such an absurd amount to Johnny Depp. She is attempting to pay off her debt using every method at her disposal. However, things are not working out in her favor at the moment.
The actress’ claims have been refused by her insurance company
A valid insurance policy for Amber Heard is compliant within California law which she thought might help her pay for the damages. As the insurance covers a variety of wrongful acts including defamation, the Aquaman actress had her hopes up. However, the way that the defamation scenario is carried out is very specific. The insurance policy only covers a defamation case if the defamation of a person is done unknowingly. But as the actress was found accountable for willful defamation, the New York Marine and General Insurance Co. went back on their word. They even dubbed it as a case of malicious defamation in order to avoid paying for her coverage.
Amber Heard might try to get the money from Johnny Depp’s salary
According to the unsealed document, Amber Heard was eligible for an eight-figure settlement following her divorce with Johnny Depp. The Post verified these documents which stated that this settlement was due to the actor’s salary from Pirates of the Caribbean 5. The actress was entitled to collect half of Johnny Depp’s fifth installment’s salary which was $90 million. She received $7 million from the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, which she said she would donate. However, it was determined during the most recent trial that the Aquaman actress did not donate the money. The documents also stated that despite the actress’ attorneys’ suggestions, she declined to request additional compensation. It is being speculated that she might claim the unsettled amount so that she can pay Johnny Depp for the damages.
