Amber Heard Loved “Balls-out Approach to Filmmaking” of $20M Movie Director That Suffered Crippling $2.5M Loss
Amber Heard was subjected to the unfavorable side effects of fame that the majority of famous actors experience early in their careers: scrutiny, and unwanted attention. She received even more attention and scrutiny during her defamation case against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp.
But prior to participating in her tense defamation trial against the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, the actress had a flourishing acting career. They collaborated on two films, including The Rum Diary, where they first met. Following the release of that film, Heard rose to a new level of fame as an actor, but then, she took a break from the screen.
For those who are unaware, the former couple shared screen space in The Rum Diary, which was released in October 2011. Heard was not seen on camera again until 2013.
However, Heard eventually returned when she collaborated with filmmaker Robert Rodriguez. Moreover, she was so impressed by him that she even once expressed her admiration for the director’s approach to filmmaking.

Amber Heard Teamed Up With Robert Rodriguez For This $20m Movie
Amber Heard has been in the public eye for a major portion of her life. She began acting when she was a teenager and eventually landed leading roles in big-budget films like The Rum Diary and Drive Angry. Later, she received more recognition and notoriety, thanks to The Danish Girl, Magic Mike XXL, Aquaman, and The Stand.
As already mentioned above, The Rum Diary, in which Johnny Depp and Amber Heard co-starred, was released in October 2011, but the 37-year-old actress wasn’t seen again on camera until 2013.
However, in 2013, she appeared in Paranoia alongside Liam Hemsworth, Gary Oldman, and Harrison Ford. In addition, she produced and starred in Syrup. Then came Machete Kills, which was directed, produced, written, and edited by Robert Rodriguez; it was Heard’s third release of 2013.
In this star-studded cast that also featured Lady Gaga, Mel Gibson, Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara, Antonio Banderas, and Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard had one of the leading roles.
Although it was their only collaboration, the Aquaman actress once remarked that she admired Rodriguez’s approach to filmmaking.

What Has She Said About Robert Rodriguez?
During a 2013 interview with Vanity Fair’s Krista Smith, Amber Heard shared what she actually liked about being in the acting profession. She liked the more challenging aspects of acting, and defending characters’ decisions was something she really enjoyed doing on a daily basis.
The Aquaman actor claimed that Robert Rodriguez worked in a similar way. Heard further stated that Rodriguez’s commitment to his vision was what she admired about his filmmaking. To quote her:
“I love … his irreverent, balls-out approach to filmmaking. He doesn’t care if it’s not physically possible. He doesn’t care about the normal kind of backroom tradeoffs that most directors or filmmakers have to make with producers and financiers and such. You get a sense working with him that it’s just his idea, it’s his vision, it’s his show. He’s willing to collaborate with other artists, actors, but no one else.”
Acting is Amber Heard’s passion because of the creative conflict. Rodriguez, according to Heard, has no problem standing up for his beliefs while making movies. Rodriguez is one of the Hollywood figures Heard has immense respect for because she loved his never-say-die approach to filmmaking.
Well, time will tell whether Heard will get the chance to collaborate with Rodriguez again or not.
