Amber Heard Took a Major Step to Kick Start Her Life and Career After the Humiliating Johnny Depp Trial
After the devastating libel trial against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, Amber Heard faced the most difficult phase of her life. The high-profile trial not only put her name in the headlines but also overwhelmed her with the amount of attention and pressure it created.
A six-week-long trial of Heard and Depp was really exhausting for the 38-year-old actress. Then, the end of a trial occurs, which results in Depp being given 10 million dollars. The jury gave the verdict in favor of Depp. He received $10.35 million and Heard got $2 million. Following the trial, she had to deal with the hostile public reception and the excessive criticism from those who doubted her.
After the court battle, Heard headed in a new direction. She thought that what she needed was a clean slate, a fresh new life, without all that attention from the media and negative gossip.
Amber Heard’s Actions After Losing the Johnny Depp Trial
Although facing heavy criticism and all sorts of trolling from people around the world, Amber Heard, in an interview with Today, said that she still loves Depp.
“Absolutely. I love him. I loved him with all my heart…I tried the best I could to make a deeply broken relationship work. And I couldn’t. I have no bad feelings or ill will towards him at all. I know that might be hard to understand or it might be really easy to understand, if you’ve just ever loved anyone, it should be easy.”

Heard also said that she doesn’t blame the jury for the verdict, as Johnny Depp is a beloved actor. However, Heard spoke up against the hatred she faced on social media and the image that was made of her on the internet. She said,
“But even somebody who is sure I’m deserving of all this hate and vitriol, even if you think that I’m lying, you still couldn’t look me in the eye and tell me that you think on social media there’s been a fair representation.”
However, after all that chaos, Heard made a bold move for her privacy. With a heavy heart, she made the hard choice to leave the US, the country that was once her home, so that she could move somewhere that gave her a chance to get over it and rebuild her life.
According to People, she also decided to create a new identity for herself. Heard acquired a new name for herself, Martha Jane Cannary, which is actually Calamity Jane’s real name, the legendary gunslinger.
Where Is Amber Heard Now?
As months passed, Heard slowly regained her balance. Gradually, she reignited her passion for acting and storytelling. After spending some months on the island of Mallorca to find some peace of mind, Heard ultimately decided to stay in Madrid. The rich cultural urban hub became a second home and a refuge for her.
According to People, sources say that she has found solace in Madrid along with her daughter. The source said,
“She is able to just be a mom there. She is focused on raising her daughter. She spends every day with her girl. They stroll around, visit parks and enjoy family time. Amber is a great mom.”
Moreover, Heard is looking for a return to acting. She last appeared in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to reprise her role as Mera. However, her role was compromised following her infamous trial. Another insider told People,
“She is excited about working and filming again. She was exhausted and disappointed about the trial. She felt she was mistreated. This is all behind her now, though. She has new energy and is focused on things that she loves.”
Heard recently shared a picture of her enjoying her birthday with a glass of champagne. Having found solace in Spain’s embrace, Heard appears to go through the experience of discovering herself as an artist once again.
