Anakin’s Return in Ahsoka: Can Confirm A Rise Of Skywalker Ahsoka Theory
Hayden Christensen will return to Obi-Wan Kenobi and reunite with Ewan McGregor. After this confirmation, Disney and Lucasfilm are making the most out of the actor’s involvement. And now he is also slated to appear in the upcoming Ahsoka project. And Anakin’s return in the Ahsoka project can confirm a long-circulating Torguta theory from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Ahsoka: What We Know So Far?
Although not much is known about the series, the live-action debut of Ahsoka in The Mandalorian gives some clues. The character is played by Rosario Dawson. Ahsoka is revealed to be on the hunt for The Grand Admiral Thrawn. Although, the reason is unclear why, it seems that the main reason is to take the advantage of the power vacuum caused because of Galactic Empire’s fall. And it is up to the Jedi to stop Ahsoka. This might also have to do something with the search for Ezra Bridger. However, how Anakin fits into the plot is still unknown. But one thing is for sure that Christensen will return as Anakin rather than Darth Vader.
If Anakin’s return doesn’t happen through flashbacks in the series, Ahsoka will meet him after his redemption in Return of the Jedi. According to the timeline, Ahsoka didn’t know about the former master’s turn to the dark side until their last battle at the end of Star Wars Rebels Season 2. Also, this was their last known interaction. Anakin and Ahsoka also appear in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. In the movie, all prominent Jedi’s return to motivate Rey while she was fighting with Emperor Palpatine. The joint appearance of Anakin and Ahsoka in the movie shows the latter learned about the former’s return to the light side. The Ahsoka series can shed light on this event. The series can show what happened when the Force Ghost Anakin shows up to converse with his old Padawan.
What to Expect from Ahsoka?
One thing that surely can happen is Lucasfilm using flashbacks as a way to fill the gaps in the narrative. However, the most interesting thing to see will a direct conversation between Ahsoka and redeemed Anakin. It will be very satisfying to see them patch things up. And it will be really satisfying for the character to know the reason for Anakin falling to the dark side rather than knowing from a second-hand source.
However, it is worth noting that Ahsoka might have not have met redeemed Anakin since he dies soon after. But the remastered version of Return of the Jedi shows Christensen’s Force Ghost Anakin. So, it makes it easy for the production studio to introduce the prequel version of the Jedi in the series.
Although we can’t say what happens, Anakin’s return in Ahsoka shows the importance of the character to Ahsoka’s story arc. Also, their brief appearance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker can give a narrative opportunity for the series further.
