Angelina Jolie Ordered Her Kids To Not Watch $294M Movie She Starred in After Refusing Bond Girl Role Because She Wanted to Be First Female James Bond
Angelina Jolie is an actor, director, humanitarian, multiple award winner, and a wonderful mother. Her performances in blockbuster films like Maleficent, Salt, Wanted, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and The Tourist, have made her famous. But she believed that one of the movies in her filmography’s history might have been too much, even for her children.
To ensure their safety and intellectual growth, Angelina Jolie and the children she shares with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt has a specific set of guidelines that the kids must adhere to. Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox, and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt are the six kids living in Jolie’s home; three of them were adopted, and three were born to her.
She doesn’t want them subjected to paparazzi or to having their childhoods ruined by the opinions of people. It makes sense that Jolie’s kids would eventually become familiar with her movies given how well-known she is as a movie star.
Jolie once claimed that a sizable portion of her filmography has already been seen by her kids. They particularly enjoyed the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith because it featured their parents working together for the first time.
However, which film did she forbid her kids from watching?
Angelina Jolie Forbade Her Kids From Seeing This $294M Movie
The fact that Angelina Jolie is fiercely protective of her children is well-known. Her efforts to keep her children secure and content have increased since she and their father, actor Brad Pitt, split up a few years ago.
When it comes to the movies her kids watch, she has some rules in place. When the movie Salt came out, Jolie attempted to stop her children from seeing it. She portrayed CIA agent Evelyn Salt in the 2010 action thriller Salt. She got the chance to portray a modern, nuanced female anti-hero in that movie. However, the feature was significantly influenced by her experience as a mother of multiple children in real life.
Evelyn Salt was originally intended to be a mother in one of the earlier drafts of the film. However, Jolie completely deleted the character having a child from the script. She once told Cinema Blend that if a woman had a child,
“I think it would be very hard for us not to imagine her kind of holding onto that child through the entire film. I just didn’t feel that a woman would have a child in that position.”
One of the reasons Jolie has attempted to dissuade her family from watching the movie is her ‘maternal instincts.’ When compared to movies like Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Salt can be more violent despite being rated PG-13 because it deals with more serious subjects.
She also feared that certain scenes in the film would be too difficult for her kids to handle.
And What Did Her Kids Not Permit Her to Do?
Angelina Jolie has a history of performing her own stunts from being in so many action movies. However, as the actor ages, her kids appear to be more concerned about her exerting herself physically.
She once remarked in an interview with Vogue that her kids had warned her not to do action roles. As they said,
“You’ll hurt yourself. And I thought, ‘God, isn’t that funny? There was a day I [Angelina Jolie] was an action star, and now the kids are telling me to get off the trampoline because I’ll hurt myself.’”
As per reports, Angelina Jolie once declined the role of ‘Bond girl’ because she wanted to be a ‘female James Bond.’ She declined to be a part of the 2006 movie Casino Royale because she had an even bigger role in mind.
In a previous interview with Vanity Fair, Jolie remarked,
“It all started with a call from Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures. She asked if I wanted to play a Bond girl. I said, ‘No, I’m not comfortable with that, but I would like to play Bond.”
Jolie’s role as Evelyn Salt, an action heroine in the spy thriller Salt, was exactly the type of movie Angelina Jolie wanted to do.
