Angelina Jolie revealed that she rejected another big superhero film before signing for The Eternals. But apparently, she didn’t name the role she was offered.
Angelina Jolie revealed that she rejected another big superhero film before signing for The Eternals. Marvel Studios’ upcoming superhero film will introduce a brand new team of heroes who have survived on Earth for thousands of years. Directed by Chloe Zhao, who is an Award-winning filmmaker, Eternals boasts a star-studded cast list that also includes Angelina Jolie, who will play Thena, one of the Eternals.
As announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Eternals got delayed a lot due to the global pandemic. Apparently, the makers have so far released two trailers of the film dropping hints of what all fans could expect from the movie. With that said the storyline of the movie will span thousands of years while the main narrative will take place right after the timeline of Avengers: Endgame. But unfortunately, the specifics of the plot are yet to unroll.
In a recent interview, Angelina Jolie opened about her decision and will to join the Marvel Studios’ project, Eternals. She also agreed that she “usually lean towards superhero or sci-fi films,” but with the script “felt like something else was happening in this film” and that is what made the role feel “very character-driven.” Jolie then added that she was also offered another superhero film that she turned down because of some reason. The actress said the film’s script was “not usually what I’m looking to do.” However, the actress remained quiet on what the project or role was.
It is too difficult to guess the role that Jolie rejected, especially when there are too few clues about the project. Over the last couple of years, the actress had been rumored for appearing in many superhero projects but nothing showed up until Eternals. With that said, as a newcomer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Angelina Jolie is most likely to do whatever she can to avoid an unnecessary commotion.
