Angus Cloud, an actor most known for playing the kind-hearted drug dealer Fezco in Sam Levinson’s Euphoria, unfortunately, passed away unexpectedly in Oakland, California, at the age of 25.

Angus Cloud battled severe s*icidal thoughts following his father’s death
The reports by TMZ have suggested that Angus Cloud, who laid his father, Conor Hickey, to rest in Ireland a week ago, was struggling with the grief that came along and battled severe s*icidal thoughts. It has been said that the actor was staying with his family while trying to navigate his way through the grief since.
The family said in a statement,
“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother, and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.”
The statement continued,
“Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence. We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter, and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.”

The family also noted that the actor had been open about his battle with mental health and hoped that Cloud’s passing can act as a reminder to others who are struggling that they are not alone in this battle and they should not fight this battle alone in silence. Reports, sources, and a former rugby team have mentioned that Cloud’s father, Conor Hickey, passed away after a short illness on May 18th. There has been no additional information known about his passing away either.
What do we know about Angus Cloud’s cause of death?
According to the reports, there has been no confirmed reason put forward by the family on how the actor passed away, except the fact that he struggled with the loss of his father, especially after he laid him to rest just a week ago.
The reports also suggested that the actor’s mother made a call to Oakland PD and Fire Department around 11:30 AM and reported a possible overdose, adding that he did not have a pulse and was eventually pronounced dead on the scene. However, a possible overdose cannot be considered as the exact cause of his death, since it was not confirmed, but it cannot be ruled out either, which is why an investigation has been launched by the police to find out the cause of death.
A spokesperson for HBO released a statement saying,
“We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”
It cannot be overlooked that the actor has been candid about his struggles with adjusting to the fame that followed after he starred in one of the biggest shows and, over the years, has confessed about how he struggled with his mental health and addiction. He posted a sweet tribute to his father just two weeks ago in which his father could be seen wearing a red hooded tracksuit and the caption reads “Miss u breh”.
Angus Cloud opened up about mental health and addiction
During an interview with Complex in 2022, the actor who appeared alongside Zendaya said,
“Because addiction is serious and a lot of doctors call it a disease, it’s a real thing. People don’t understand it. It’s easy to talk about and it’s easy to say, ‘Just say no’”.
He continued,
“But for someone who is in active addiction, that is damn near impossible and they will throw their whole life away and they will die because of this disease or whatever, and then they will say it’s not a disease because you ‘choose’ to do drugs. You don’t ‘choose’ to do cancer.”
The actor who portrayed a good-hearted drug dealer on Euphoria did not like it when he was compared with the character he played on-screen to what he was in real life. In an interview in 2022 with Variety, Cloud said,
“It does bother me … when people are like, ‘It must be so easy! You get to go in and be yourself’. I’m like, ‘Why don’t you go and do that?’ It’s not that simple. I brought a lot to the character. You can believe what you want. It ain’t got nothing to do with me.”
Angus Cloud was candid about how the fame that followed after the first season of Sam Levinson‘s show premiered on HBO had affected him. He shared with Interview Magazine in 2022 that people knowing him and recognizing him messed up with his mind, adding that he would rather have no one recognize him. Cloud, however, clarified at the time that he is not mad at them because they do, but he would rather that people didn’t recognize him as he would like to have regular interactions with people and does not want to be treated as special.
We extend our condolences to the family.
