Hathaway came out with this statement after Harvey Weinstein was sued by an unnamed woman for s*xually assaulting her at his home during a presidential debate in 2000.

Anne Hathaway rose to prominence after she was seen in the movie The Princess Diaries, playing the character of Mia Thermopolis. The world got to witness the charm of Hathaway in 2001 and since then the actress has been winning hearts all over. Although the actress became successful at a very young age, still she has had her fair share of struggles with many people in the industry. Hathaway in an interview said,

“I’ve had a 20-year career and I’ve had some really, really bad experiences. But I’ve had a lot of great ones too—with members of both genders. While they do not begin to approach the atrocious, galling stories others have shared in recent months, I have had negative on-set experiences, some of a s*xual nature.”

She further added, “Some are from the beginning of my career, some are more recent—all are unacceptable.”

The Intern actress is trying to imbibe the learning from all those experiences and use it with the Time’s Up movement.

Time’s Up is a non-profit entity that generates funds to assist s*xual harassment victims. On January 1, 2018, this NGO was founded by some famous personalities after the Harvey Weinstein controversy became public. Hathaway contributed towards this NGO by talking about it and making people aware. The 40-year-old actress intends to protect other people by raising her voice through this movement. Hathaway said,

“Being a 35-year-old cis-gendered woman who has experienced the everyday, abusive imbalance of the world also made me want to be a part of a movement for change.”

She further added,

“I want to help make what I consider the best of my experiences to be the norm, as it always should have been.”

Hathaway also talked about what is the reason for these s*xual harassment cases being so normal in Hollywood.
