Kathy Hilton of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fame has found her name embroiled in a controversy, albeit one of her own makings undoubtedly. The 63-year-old star has messed up big time now, and she knows it. She will now know that being ignorant of the world around you is a big problem in our modern society. On the set of Watch What Happens Live, hosted by Andy Cohen, she had to put her knowledge to the test. She failed miserably and is now in the eye of the storm.

Kathy Hilton messes up big-time
In the talk show, Kathy Hilton had to put her celebrity knowledge to the test in a segment of the talk show, Will Kathy Know Them? When asked who the celebrity visible on the screen was, Hilton made big mistakes, not being able to identify known celebrities like Ryan Reynolds, Melissa Etheridge, and Justin Timberlake. But these mistakes are not beyond redemption. It was when she was quizzed about the identity of Lizzo that things got a little problematic.
When Lizzo’s image popped up on the screen, Hilton expressed that she had an idea about who she was. Not having any idea, she suggested, “Precious?” What followed was a moment of awkward silence, followed by laughter from Hilton’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star, Crystal Kung Minkoff, who later covertly corrected her co-star, saying, “She is precious, though. Lizzo is precious.” She meant Precious star, Gabourey Sidibe.
Hilton chimed in, “That’s what I call her! Her nickname is Precious, to me.” But the damage had been done.
Twitter Calls Kathy Hilton racist
Fans were livid at Kathy Hilton. They thought that her act of confusing one Black public figure for another showed how prejudiced she is. And she has faced unending online backlash for the same. Fans contended that the Grammy award-winning star is in no way similar to Gabourey Sidibe. And any confusion on her part between the two shows how racist Hilton is.

Not Racist, Just Blind
But some fans pointed out that Kathy is not racist or fatphobic, she’s just outright clueless. Not being able to identify Lizzo, Ryan Reynolds, Justin Timberlake, or even Melissa Etheridge, who acts in the same show as her, shows how unaware she is, with one fan venturing as far as to call her blind.
