Armie Hammer Was So Devastated by Sexual Assault Allegations He Wanted To Swim Out into the Ocean and Get “Hit by a Boat”
It’s been a year and a half since the Call Me by Your Name actor was first accused of s*xual misconduct and possible cannibalism. Armie Hammer went through his divorce from his childhood sweetheart and best friend of 13 years, Elizabeth Chambers in 2020. The year was a difficult one for him since there were court proceedings and his children went under Chambers’ custody. However, right after his divorce was finalized, his s*xual assault allegations began.
As per the posts of an anonymous woman on Instagram, Armie Hammer was accused of alleged s*xual assault and cannibalism. The actor was devastated by these claims and finally opened up in an interview with Air Mail to discuss his life before and after the accusations.

The extremely talented Hollywood actor, Armie Hammer with a Golden Globes nomination to his name, has had a struggling life. The actor married his 13-year-old best friend and childhood sweetheart, Elizabeth Chambers, only to experience a heartbreaking divorce in 2020. Further, it was revealed by the actor that he experienced physical abuse as a child by a youth pastor at their family church for a year. Amid his personal struggles, the actor was further introduced to extremal problems when an anonymous woman accused Hammer of s*xual misconduct.
The actor married his childhood sweetheart Elizabeth Chambers in 2010 and had a decade-long happy married life. Until 2020, when Chambers filed for a divorce and primary custody of their children. Hammer had a difficult year amid his quarantine in the Cayman Islands and divorce proposition in 2020. However, 2021 seemed even harder, when right after his divorce proceedings, an anonymous woman accused him of s*xual abuse and possible cannibalism through an Instagram post. The anonymous woman, later identified as Efrosina Angelova, shared screenshots and graphic images of texts received from the actor posing R*pe fantasies and cannibalistic desires.
Soon several screenshots started proliferating online, from Hammer’s secondary Instagram account. There were photos and videos of women in bondage, captioned with “there are a few silver linings. Like f*cking Ms. Cayman again while I’m down there.” The actor previously discussed his desire for BDSM in interviews. After the photos and videos came up, the actor confirmed it was his account and apologized publically stating, “I am genuinely sorry for any confusion my foolish attempt at humor may have caused.”
Armie Hammer opens up about his s*xual accusations
In January 2021, Armie Hammer was accused of s*xual misconduct and possible cannibalism by a woman identified as Efrosina Angelova, on Instagram. Angelova claimed that she received text messages about cannibalism and r*pe from the actor. She also claimed that his other exes reached out to her after seeing her post. “Women approached me with their affair stories as we talked, overwhelmed with grief,” Angelova posted in her story.
Further, the actor was supposed to be cast alongside Jennifer Lopez in Shotgun Wedding, which was canceled due to the alleged accusations against him. Hammer shared with Variety, “I’m not responding to these bullshit claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me”.
Soon he lost financial support from his family and several career opportunities since no one wanted to associate with an alleged abuser. Until 2023, when the disgraced actor was called for an interview with Air Mail where he open up about his life as a minor and even about his pre and post-accusation life.
Hammer revealed the time when he was contemplating suicide amid all accusations and the rough patch of the year. He shared with Air Mail that he is now fully recovered and sober to work again after taking his 12-Step Program from AA. The actor shared “I just walked out into the ocean and swam out as far as I could and hoped that either I drowned, or was hit by a boat, or eaten by a shark.” He further spoke about his early introduction to s*xuality in a scary way by his church pastor might have turned him into a monster where he forgot how to take control of his desires for BDSM. He stated,
“Sexuality was introduced to me in a scary way where I had no control. My interests then went to: I want to have control in the situation, sexually.”
Despite agreeing to his desire for domination in bed, he denied all claims of r*ping Angelova or any of those cannibalistic accusations. He shared, “We would engage in what is called a ‘consensual non-consent scene’…I have never thrust this on someone unexpectedly. Never.”
Armie Hammer, through the interview, navigated his life as a minor and how his desire for s*xual control might have landed him in such a grave situation.
