Journalist Nick Wallis offers a new perspective on the tumultuous relationship between the former couple in his upcoming book Depp v Heard: The Unreal Story, set to release on May 17th.

According to Wallis, who covered both trials extensively, the book offers an inside look at the two shocking trials that unfolded in the aftermath of the couple’s split in 2016. He describes the former couple as,

“I thought they were two troubled, but fascinating human beings, trying to find their way in the world. They went through an extraordinary process, played out on a global stage. I never thought it was sordid or grim.”

The writer claims to have attended nearly every day of the London court during Depp’s 2020 libel case against The Sun, where he was branded a “wife-beater.”

He also reported attending every day of last year’s Virginia trial, where Depp won his defamation case against Heard over 2018 op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post.

The Unreal Story is said to provide a gripping reconstruction of the evidence and the wider social media frenzy that threatened to engulf the trial. In his book, Wallis provides a fascinating insight into the s*xual politics, and culture wars, that surrounded the practices.

The chapter titles, such as The Tattoo Incident, The Disco Bloodbath, and The Bottle R*pe, give a nod to some of the most salacious headlines from the Virginia trial.

Johnny Depp And Amber Heard’s Defamation Trial

Amber Heard and Depp’s highly publicized legal battle over defamation claims has come to an end in 2022. The trial began in 2018 when Heard wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post, stating that she was “a public figure representing domestic abuse.”

The 59-year-old filed a lawsuit for defamation against Heard, claiming her allegations of abuse were false.
The actress was initially ordered to pay Depp more than $10 million in damages, while the Secret Window star was ordered to pay Heard $2 million after she filed a countersuit against him.

However, Heard dropped her appeal against the ruling, and the terms of their legal settlement have yet to be made public at that time.

Earlier, the Aquaman artist stated in an Instagram post that agreeing to the settlement was “a very difficult decision” and “It’s important for me to say that I never chose this.” She continued.

“Now I finally have an opportunity to emancipate myself from something I attempted to leave over six years ago and on terms I can agree to. I have made no admission. This is not an act of concession. There are no restrictions or gags concerning my voice moving forward.”

The legal battle between Heard and Depp received a lot of media attention and played out publicly for months. However, the public showed overwhelming support for The Professor player on social media, as evidenced by the widespread sharing of posts discrediting Heard’s claims of domestic violence at the hands of Depp.
