On Monday, the Armchair Expert Podcast with Dax Shepard and Monica Padman featured a discussion of Gabrielle Union‘s dysfunctional marriage to football player Chris Howard, whom she divorced in 2006. During the interview, Union revealed that she felt “entitled” to cheat on her ex-husband Howard during their marriage.

Union revealed,

“In our first marriage, neither one of us felt like the marriage should get in the way of our dating. A part of it was like keeping up with his activities, like, ‘Oh, that’s what you’re doing? You’re going to feel this one.’ And I just felt entitled to it as well.”

The 50-year-old recalled,

“I was paying all the bills, I was working my ass off, and I felt like that’s what comes [with it]. Like my dad before me, whoever has the most, gets to do whatever the hell they want, is what I thought.”

Union quipped,

“Neither one of us felt like our marriage should get in the way of our dating.”

She confessed that they went for therapy and according to their therapist, she said,

“Romance should have never gotten out of the dating phase. Howard and I had not one thing in common, no morals, no values, no scruples.”

Union also admitted that she was “horny for validation” and to be desired by certain types of men.
