Following the release of Assassination Classroom The Movie – Our Time on July 23, 2026, on Crunchyroll, the discussion surrounding the series has been at fever pitch. Long-time Assassination Classroom fans and new ones joining the fandom can hardly keep quiet about Korosensei and his students. The latest film isn’t a sequel, but fills in story chapters left out of the original anime.
Now, what’s next? The manga is over, the anime is done, and now the film has filled in the gaps as well. Basically, there’s nothing left in the Assassination Classroom franchise to binge. However, if you’re stuck in a “who’s gonna replace Korosensei” spiral, these five anime bring the same energy: teachers who are way more than they look, running classrooms like absolute badasses.
1. The Gokusen Has a Yakuza Head as a Teacher
Kumiko Yamaguchi is a rookie mathematics teacher. However, she is secretly next in line to run an entire Yakuza clan by herself. Even then, she chooses a homeroom class stacked with delinquents at an all-boys school while hiding her double life. Her goal is simple: win over the kids who’ve made grown adults quit teaching.
Just like Korosensei hid his dark life behind a happy-go-lucky persona, she is also doing something similar. And if this thirteen-episode anime doesn’t quench your thirst for this story, there is a live-action adaptation as well that you can watch.
2. Great Teacher Onizuka Mirrors Assassination Classroom’s “Failed Students” Trope
In Great Teacher Onizuka, Eikichi is a former biker gang leader who becomes a teacher almost by accident, and he gets handed the one class every other teacher has already given up on, just like Kumiko from the previous anime. That’s basically the Assassination Classroom setup in reverse.
Instead of a monster teaching students that are considered failures, this anime has a delinquent-turned-teacher who relates to troubled students because he used to be one. His methods are chaotic and sometimes straight-up unhinged, and the emotional payoff of watching him fight for kids made it one of the best anime from the 90s.
3. In Ultimate Otaku Teacher, Kagami’s Superpower Is Science
Junichirou Kagami is a badass when it comes to science, as he is someone who may as well make a time machine in his spare time. The problem is, he is a lazy genius and prefers to do nothing that takes effort. However, when he really wants to do something, he is unstoppable. This is what he calls “YD”, short for “yearn to do”.
His sister forces him to become a teacher, and he spends his days getting involved and putting the lives of students on better paths. The vibe of this anime is quieter, and there are no big stakes like the destruction of Earth, but the day-to-day sequences and student dynamics feel a lot like Assassination Classroom.
4. Lord El-Melloi Offers One of the Most Badass Teachers in Anime
This anime is a direct sequel to the Fate/Zero anime. However, it doesn’t focus on the bloody battles of the Grail War. In this anime, Waver Velvet, the master of Iskander and the student of Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald, takes over his teacher’s class as a magic instructor. What makes Waver Velvet such a badass, even among his students, is that he is a survivor of the Grail War, which alone speaks volumes.
Furthermore, he is practically Sherlock Holmes but with a twist of magecraft. He is often the first person many major characters contact whenever any problem arises, something we saw in Fate/Strange Fake, which is one of the top Fate shows of all time, as well. The dark past and capable teacher vibes make it feel a lot like Assassination Classroom.
5. Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor Gives Us a Lazy but Badass Teacher
Glenn Radars looks like the laziest substitute teacher alive, showing up late and dozing off whenever possible. However, behind that mask, there is a former government assassin who quietly served in an elite mage unit before retiring into teaching.
Once his students prove they’re serious about magic, Glenn stops slacking and shows them what real power looks like, echoing the same “don’t judge this teacher by his first impression” twist that made Korosensei so much fun to watch unfold. Furthermore, he carries a lot of secrets from his past, which gives a similar vibe to Korosensei.
