Barbie Officially Beats Chris Pratt’s Super Mario Bros. Movie as 2023’s Greatest Blockbuster
Margot Robbie’s Barbie has climbed back to the top after dethroning Super Mario Bros in the box office race. Barbie was released last month and ever since then, the movie has been loved by fans across the globe. Even though Barbie faced a box office clash with Oppenheimer, its biggest competition was none other than Super Mario Bros. However, as per recent reports, Barbie has officially dethroned Super Mario Bros in the box office race.

Even though Super Mario Bros. was released even before Barbie, this cinematic adaptation of a video game had fans across the globe attracted to it. However, after a long wait, Margot Robbie’s Barbie has officially dethroned Super Mario Bros at the box office race.
Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster has now listed itself as the highest-grossing film domestically of 2023. Where Super Mario Bros. made $574 million, Barbie on the other hand made more than $575.4 million in the United States. With all of this success now Barbie is just $50 million away from becoming 2023’s highest-grossing movie worldwide.
Even the studio, Warner Bros has listed its recent release Blue Beetle and Barbie at No.1 and No. 2 at the box office for the US. Not only this, all because of Barbie it will be the first time that Warner Bros film will be listed as a top-grossing production house of the year.
Director’s cut of Barbie to get an IMAX release in September
Considering the recent trend of director’s cuts and the success of Barbie, Warner Bros has confirmed that this blockbuster movie’s director’s cut will be released in IMAX theaters for a one-week limited engagement beginning September 22.
This version of the film will contain brand-new footage chosen by director Greta Gerwig. Even Gerwig confirmed this news and said that considering the success and the love that the movie has received the new version of the film is special thanks to all the Barbie fans.
“We made Barbie for the big screen, so it’s an even bigger thrill to be able to bring it to IMAX, the biggest screen of all,” said Gerwig. “And as a special thanks to Barbie fans, we’re excited to share a little bit more of our cast and crew’s incredible work by adding special new footage we hope audiences will enjoy.”
This news has the fans more than excited as they are curious to see yet another version of their beloved Barbie on the silver screen.
