During an interview with The Wrap in 2022, Andrew Garfield revealed that he enjoyed lying about his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. He appeared in the movie along with other web crawlers. He went on to compare the entire scenario with the Werewolf game, where the players hide their true identity. He admitted-

“It was stressful, I’m not gonna lie. But it was also weirdly enjoyable.”

Despite weaving a web of lies, the actor even mentioned looking at the entire scenario from a fan’s point of view. He further mentioned-

“Would I want to discover it when I went to the theater? Would I want to be guessing, guessing, guessing? I worked so hard to keep it secret that I was in Atlanta shooting. All these leaks were happening, and I was like, ‘Oh, my God, guys, what the hell is going on?’”

Andrew Garfiled’s fans and followers were more than happy to see the actor reprise the superhero in the 2021 released Spider-Man: No Way Home. 

Andrew Garfield On Sharing The Screen With Tobey Maguire In Spider-Man: No Way Home

Andrew Garfield spoke about reprising the character of Spider-Man in the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man: No Way Home in the book The Art of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Written by British writer and journalist Jess Harrold, The Art of Spider-Man: No Way Home, is all about the cinematic history of the franchise.

As reported by the media outlet The Direct, Andrew Garfield discussed his experience of sharing the screen with Tobey Maguire in the book, which mentions-

“[There was] undeniable excitement at the concept of just the simple image of the three of us together.”

He mentioned that he was not only happy as an actor but a fan too. He stated-

“It was exciting on so many levels. On a fan level — which I am — and on an actor level, being able to work with my Spider-Man, Tobey, and then the brilliant Tom. Then, on an even deeper level of, well, what does that mean? What can we explore about these three brothers who are separated through time and space?”

While comparing his version of the Spider-Man to Tom Holland’s the actor even mentioned-

“The essence of that character [Peter Parker] is so much about isolation and being a one-man army, especially in the origins of the story. Obviously, with Tom’s iteration, joining in with the Avengers is a deeply reassuring thing — but I think, essentially, he’s a lone kid, and that’s what makes him so compelling and relatable because we all know what that is somehow.”

While talking about portraying the messy and silly version of the superhero, he said-

“I felt like the pressure was off, and I was given a lot of freedom to explore and be the irreverent version of the character that I always felt a connection to — to be messy and free and playful and silly. It just felt like a very free, healing experience.”
