American actor and director, Ben Affleck rose to fame with the 1997 movie Good Will Hunting. He co-wrote and starred in this movie with his longtime best buddy Matt Damon. Ben Affleck began dating Gwyneth Paltrow in 1997 after they met in a party hosted by producer Harvey Weinstein. He had recently broken up with his high school love interest, Cheyenne Rothman, whom he had met at a summer camp. Reportedly, the duo dated from 1990 to 1997.
Paltrow and Affleck fell for each other while they were starring in Shakespeare in Love. The Iron-Man actress had separated from Brad Pitt that same year just after a few months \of getting engaged. Later, she had admitted that producer Weinstein had played matchmaker for her and Affleck. The relationship lasted for three years as the duo split in 2000.

Although Hollywood or not it’s a couple’s personal decision to speak up about their relationship publicly, both Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck have been seen talking about their relationship in interviews. In an interview, when asked about the reason of their split, the Batman vs Superman actor said:
“I don’t know what went wrong between us,” Affleck said. “I really don’t. Friendship is the basis of a good relationship… But I can’t really answer that. It’s just too complicated and too personal – and she’d k*ll me if I said any more.”
While Affleck seems to be clueless, Paltrow has been pretty candid about it. In an interview, she said that the relationship ended because Affleck wasn’t in “a good place” in his life to have a girlfriend when they split. She also said that her parents were not too bothered by her breaking up with Affleck.
Ben Affleck Is on Good Terms with Gwyneth Paltrow
The Gone Girl star has managed to stay friends with Gwyneth Paltrow even after their split. Affleck once said: “Fortunately, Gwyneth is very mature. She’s not a vindictive person, and she’s not bitter or spiteful. She’s just got enormous depth of spirit and soul. Most people do not quite have the grace of spirit that she does.”
Paltrow has also admitted that Ben is a great person, who is smart and has a good sense of humor. After all these years, the ex-couple still respect each other and talk highly of one another in interviews. They continue to have the best interests of each other in their hearts.
