Tom Hiddleston was ‘very happy’ when Benedict Cumberbatch was finalized to play Doctor Strange

During his Crimson Peak press junket, Tom Hiddleston expressed how happy he was that his best friend Benedict Cumberbatch had scored the role of Doctor Strange in the MCU. He said via People,

“I’m very happy about it and I gave him no tips. He needs no advice from me. I don’t know much about Dr. Strange, but I’m sure he’ll be excellent.”

In another interview with Esquire, Hiddleston noted,

“He didn’t ask for advice. And he didn’t need it! He had already worked on a huge scale on Star Trek: Into Darkness and Sherlock was a global phenomenon. Over the ten or so years, I’ve known him. What stands out is his limitless curiosity.”

He continued to express his enthusiasm for his best friend:

“He’s keenly aware that life is short and precious, and his range comes from the depth of his internal world – we contain multitudes – and his energy. I love his Doctor Strange. I think it’s terrific.”

Back at Comic-Con 2016, Cumberbatch revealed that he had shared a special moment with Hiddleston, who was asked if he would be helping the actor prepare for his role. He shared that he told him that it was so sweet that they had been asking him to look out for him like a baby brother.
