Steven Spielberg is back in the science fiction genre once again after 2018’s Ready Player One. One of the most talented filmmakers has planned to return with another movie featuring a cast including Emily Blunt and Colman Domingo. Though most of the details of the film have been kept under wraps, as per reports, the working title as disclosed is The Dish (not confirmed).
There have been a lot of speculations and anticipations revolving around the project. However, in a recent interview, Domingo shared a few insights about the movie that left the audience more excited about it. Even though he tried his best to keep it a secret, people have been quick to compare it with Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.
Colman Domingo revealing certain facts about Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film
The Sing Sing actor Colman Domingo is all set to have a busiest year as he has back-to-back projects lined up for him to take over. After wrapping up Edgar Wright’s The Running Man, he will join the cast of Gus Van Sant’s Dead Man’s Wire, following which he will hop on to shoot Euphoria season 3 with Zendaya and the other members. However, that’s not the end of it. He will next feature in Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi drama along with Emily Blunt.
There is not much to know about this sci-fi movie as every one of them is staying tight-lipped. But, in a recent conversation with Deadline, Domingo shared a few insights into the film. Even though he started by saying, “I can’t tell you anything,” he then decided to go on a little further:
I will tell you this. I finished reading the script and I bawled. I thought it was one of the most beautiful scripts about our humanity. I think it was just the most beautiful film about our humanity, and I literally cried because Steven Spielberg believes in the possibility of the human beings we could be. That’s what I’ll tell you.
However, when Colman Domingo was pushed further, he said, “From what’s out there in the world, it is an untitled sci-fi experience. You know Steven’s always concerned about the stars and the moon, so I think that’s what I can tell you.” The interviewer then asked if he was an astronaut in the movie, the actor speculated by sharing, “Possibly. You never know.”
Will Steven Spielberg’s new movie match the iconic Interstellar’s glory?
Based on Domingo’s statements about Spielberg’s sci-fi drama, it might have quite a similar storyline to Christopher Nolan‘s Interstellar. Nolan’s directorial has been an epic in its own way with sci-fi elements blending beautifully with real human emotions and having a story at the core of it. Interstellar is one of Nolan’s best movies so far featuring Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, and others.
So, people might make comparisons between the two movies if the storylines match, but only time can tell which one would surpass the other. Ever since Domingo’s interview went live, netizens have been going crazy about the upcoming Spielberg film. Here’s what they have posted on X (formerly known as Twitter):
The movie is supposed to hit the theatres in the summer of 2026, but we are still waiting for an updated confirmation of it. Stay tuned to know more.
