Mahershala Ali’s Blade Reboot Might Rope in Kylie Jenner’s Ex-Boyfriend Travis Scott After Rapper’s Recent Tweet
Two-time Oscar Winner Mahershala Ali is going to star as Eric Brooks in Marvel’s Blade reboot. At the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, the president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige made the announcement that the studios are working to completely revamp the Blade franchise. This announcement was astonishing as the last Blade movie was released in 2004 and it was a box-office bomb taking its massive budget into consideration.
As the new Blade movie is still in its pre-production stage, the position for the composer for this movie is still vacant. Recently, Kylie Jenner’s ex-boyfriend Travis Scott has expressed an interest in doing the score for the movie. By the looks of it, there hasn’t been any official discussion on this matter.
Mahershala Ali’s Blade Might Have Travis Scott Produce the Score
The 3 Blade movies that were released between 1998 and 2004 starred Wesley Snipes in the lead role but after the infamous story of Snipes strangling director David S. Goyer in front of the crew went viral, not only the fate of the movie went downhill but also the Money Train actor’s career.
Eventually, it was confirmed that Mahershala Ali will be seen in the role of Marvel’s Daywalker, thus making it a complete revamp of the original Blade trilogy which would imply that it will also have a new soundtrack, and rapper Travis Scott seems to be interested in working on it. He tweeted: “Woke up thinking I would love to do the soundtrack to Blade.”

If Scott does land this gig, it will not be the first time that he will be producing music for a film as he has previously not only starred in but also developed music for the movie Gully which was released in 2021. In addition to this, his Cactus Jack Films has also signed a production deal with A24 which is the content studio behind films such as Midsommar and The Florida Project. His first project in partnership with A24 is going to align with his upcoming album Utopia.

Mahershala Ali’s Blade’s Release Date Remains Uncertain
The movie was initially slated for release in 2023. Unfortunately, that could not happen because first, the movie’s director Bassam Tariq was replaced by Yann Demange in late 2022 and then, there was also a switch of screenwriters that has finally ended up in Nic Pizzolatto taking the position of screenwriter.

Some industry insiders have also claimed that the production is delayed due to Mahershala Ali having issues with the screenplay. So far, he has asked Marvel Studios to revise it multiple times and is reportedly frustrated with how long the pre-production is taking. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike that began earlier this year have also contributed to the delay of the film’s production.
