When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world in 2020 and forced everyone to refrain from socializing, the game Among Us was a digital blessing as it allowed people to socialize with friends and distant relatives virtually. As the restrictions kept ending, the game took a backseat again. Millions of people played the game back in 2020. When things went back to normal, the game, actually launched in 2018, slipped back into obscurity.
However, they are coming back now, but this time as a show. This upcoming show will hopefully help it get over the slump it has fallen into after its popularity peak four years ago. The first trailer of the show has been released recently and fans are quite excited with what is to come.
Fans Are Stoked About the Upcoming Among Us Show After the First Trailer Dropped
Last year, Variety reported that an Among Us show is in the works at CBS Studios. The studio has developed the show with Innersloth, the independent game studio behind the game. Additionally, the animation studio behind the show is Titmouse, known for projects like Big Mouth and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
Variety had reported that the show’s premise is the same as the game. This is what it reads:
Members of your crew have been replaced by an alien shapeshifter intent on causing confusion, sabotaging the ship, and killing everyone. Root out the ‘Impostor’ or fall victim to its murderous designs.
That said, the first trailer for the show has been released recently and it will make every viewer feel nostalgic. The first scene of the trailer sees Yellow and Brown making a pizza and fist bumping with an Imposter sneaking up behind them. In the second scene, Captain Red can be seen playing a game before being alert as a command appears on his screen. Each colored blob friend of ours is sneaked upon by the Imposter.

So far, no official announcement has been made regarding the release date of the series. Even so, the first trailer of the show looks quite promising so hopefully, the series will be worth the wait.
What Else is Known About the Among Us Show?
Writer and storyboard artist Owen Dennis, known for his work on Infinity Train and Regular Show, is creating an executive producing the show. Other executive producers are Forest Willard, Marcus Bromander, and Carl Neisser of Innersloth and Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina of Titmouse.
Innersloth announced the first round of voice actors for the show in mid-March this year. This included Randall Park as Captain Red of the Skeld, Ashley Johnson as Security Chief Purple, Yvette Nicole Brown as HR Orange, and Elijah Wood as unpaid intern Green. The second round, announced in late March, included Dan Stevens as Doctor Blue, Liv Hewson as Geologist Black, and Kimiko Glenn as Gemologist Cyan.
