Every actor needs a breakthrough role to establish himself in the industry. Just one great role and success suddenly clings to the actors. However, Bryan Cranston perceives success somehow differently, which is why he believes that he got his success way before his breakthrough roles.

Cranston got his breakthrough roles when he was in his mid-40s. However, he claimed he got the taste of success when he was merely 25 years old. He said that his definition of success was making a decent living out of his acting career, which he did at the age of 25. He told the Independent:

When I started my career at 23 years old, all I really wanted to do was be able to make a living… that was my measure of success, and I achieved that just two years later at age 25.

He further added that throughout his acting career, he has simply focused on making a living out of his profession. He refers to this as a blessed experience and considers himself lucky for the same.

Cranston realized his love for acting at a young age, but couldn’t pursue it then because he had seen his father’s troubles to make it as a star very closely. Worried about the consequences, he decided that acting shouldn’t be his top priority. Therefore, he pursued police work as he believed that being a detective was very cool.

However, he didn’t abandon his love for acting and continued performing as a hobby. He even took an elective acting class when he was in the second year of his college. He met a really pretty girl in the elective class, and that’s when he thought of turning to acting full-time again.

Sitting near the girl with a romantic script in his hand, Cranston realized that he wouldn’t get such a lovely and interesting experience by studying police science. That was the point where everything spun around and he became optimistic about his acting career.
