Bridgerton Star Who Became Hollywood’s Hot Commodity After Show’s Breakout Success is in “rebuilding mode” as Career Takes a Nosedive – Insider Claims
British-Zimbabwean actor Regé-Jean Page won everyone’s heart with his role as Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, in the first season of the Netflix drama series Bridgerton. However, luck has been a bit harsh on the star lately. Even after gaining immense fame from the 2020 romantic drama series, the actor has not been able to uplift his fate.
Page won the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Award and the IMDB STARmeter Award for Bridgerton too. However, after the drama series, Page’s career has taken a nosedive out of the blue.
Regé-Jean Page’s Film Career Is Reportedly A Work Under Construction
After the first season of Bridgerton was released on December 25, 2020, Page’s name was immediately included in the list of future A-listers. Although the romantic drama series was an absolute breakthrough in his career, it was also the beginning of a rough phase.
Following his portrayal of Simon Basset, Page has not been able to grab a similar famous character. A source revealed to Life & Style:
Regé had an amazing lucky break in Bridgerton four years ago and made the smart decision to jump off of that show to cash in and make movie money, but to say it hasn’t quite worked out as planned is a massive understatement.
Although Page did a few other roles after Bridgerton, he couldn’t continue the legacy that he earned from the drama series. The insider stated that the actor is currently in a “rebuilding mode” with respect to his movie career.
Why Did Regé-Jean Page Leave Bridgerton?
Page shared the screen with Phoebe Dynevor in the first season of the Netflix series Bridgerton. Page gained instant fame with his role as Simon Besset in the romantic series. However, the 36-year-old actor didn’t continue his role in the second season of the show.
Page mentioned that he went to work on some other projects after the first season of Bridgerton and went with the same flow due to which he stayed away from the drama series. Page told Vanity Fair:
I signed up to do a job and I did the job and then I did some other jobs.
Page was interested in exploring some more options instead of continuing with the old series. Therefore, he played the role of Denny Carmichael in the 2022 action movie The Gray Man following Bridgerton. However, the movie didn’t make it to the top charts and Page is still in search of his second breakthrough.
