Some incidents affect us so deeply that they become traumas for life. Britney Spears’ conservatorship phase will always be a grotesque part of her. Reportedly, the terror of being re-institutionalized affected her to such an extent that she used to keep knives in her bed while she slept.

The conservatorship period controlled her senses in such a way that she believed that someone would come in the middle of the night and take her back to the psych ward. Following her fear of being re-institutionalized, her close ones were concerned for her; hence, they listed some suggestions, which included keeping her away from sharp objects and not letting her drive alone.

Britney Spears lived in fear of being re-institutionalized

Britney Spears has spent 13 years in conservatorship. Her condition was so bad during the phase that she described it as abusive. It’s even hard to imagine letting someone control our lives. Spears, on the other hand, has gone through all this. After being released from the conservatorship, the pop star allegedly developed a fear of being dragged back to the phase she hated the most.

In 2021, Spears revealed that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had a constant fear of being re-institutionalized. To retaliate against her fear, the Grammy Award winner reportedly kept knives with her to protect herself. According to a source,

“Britney viewed knives as a means of protection … she has a constant fear of being re-institutionalized, something she’s referenced in the past.”

However, her mental struggles often resulted in volatile behavior that could not be ignored, so her close ones decided to take certain measures to protect her. Reportedly, Spears’ family members prepared a list of cautions that should be followed by the Gimme More singer to keep herself safe. The cautions include keeping knives away from her and not driving alone.

Britney Spears has seen the worst during her conservatorship phase. After regaining control of her life, Spears wanted to share the tale of her suffering with her fans. The singer is currently working on her autobiography; however, things aren’t so easy for Spears. Her memoir has been put on hold as some A-listers have suggested that her book is “brutally honest’.

Spears’ autobiography is said to be worth $15 million. The Toxic singer has not yet revealed much about her book, although last year during an interview she revealed that she is writing three different versions, and to complete them she has been through a lot of therapy.
