Céline Dion Responds to Fans Asking Her to Tour Amid Serious Health Battle and Her Words Will Bring Tears to the Most Stone-cold Eyes
Popularly regarded as the Queen of Power Ballads, Céline Dion is known for her powerful and technically skilled vocals, which have been one of the favorites of the audience over the years. Dion’s The Color of My Love gave her global stardom, but it was the soundtrack My Heart Will Go On for Titanic that helped her solidify her place in the hearts of the audience.
The Canadian singer was named one of the top-earning artists of the decade back in 2009. She became one of the top-selling artists in the world and is reportedly the sixth-most successful female artist in the history of the US Billboard 200. Céline Dion, who announced that she has been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, has finally answered one of the highly anticipated answers for her fans.
Queen of Power Ballads, Céline Dion, says, ‘I will sing again’
Millions of hearts were deeply saddened when pop icon Céline Dion shared back in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder. She also announced that she has decided to cancel the Courage World Tour as she continues to be treated for her medical condition. Since then, her fans have been praying, hoping for her to get better, and waiting for her to take the stage and perform once again.
But now, Céline Dion has answered the most-awaited question about when she will sing again. Ahead of her documentary I Am: Céline Dion’s release, she in an interview with CBC’s New Chief correspondent Adrienne Arsenault, addressed her health conditions. She shared that she was trying to survive through all of it, trying to be brave because, all her life, she wanted to be the best version of herself.
With the weeks, months, and years, things started to get more, more often every day. The body started to get rigid, not flexible, with more spasms, and more cramping. I went to see every ENT around the world as many shows as I’ve done, I’ve seen as many ENTs.
According to BBC, singer holds the record for the most successful residency of all time on the Las Vegas strip, and the time away from it due to health conditions helped her reflect, as she said.
There has been a price to pay for always being in tour mode while traveling. On all my days off, I wanted to be ready for the next show. I toured the world, but I did not see a lot. But as a performer and a singer, I have received so much love from the fans.
Queen of Power Ballads was asked during the interview about the weight of fans hoping that she’d sing again. She said,
I will sing again, that’s for sure. They deserve to have an expectation. They pay. I’m 56 years old, and for many, many years, I have done a lot of shows. We’ve had a lot of happiness because of the fans, paying for shows, and buying my records. They have all the right to have all the expectations.
She added that her expectations are probably bigger than what fans expect from her, noting that she has missed her fans more than she has missed singing.
Céline Dion addressed her 2024 Grammys appearance
During the interview with People, Dion noted that she was very nervous to go back to the Grammy stage and present the night’s biggest honor to no one other than Taylor Swift. She said that it was her honor that the Grammys thought of her to present Swift with the award, adding that it was her fourth time winning the award, which is exceptional.
Céline Dion appeared on stage with her 23-year-old son René-Charles and shared with People for their latest cover that she didn’t want to feel wobbly and that she knew that she was going to be very nervous and happy at the same time.
The singer’s upcoming documentary is going to give fans insight into her challenges with her SPS diagnosis. She had noted that while she underwent treatment, she stayed at home in her comfortable clothes, so coming to the Grammys was a huge deal for her. She received a standing ovation from the audience and instantly felt at home.
Queen of Ballads lastly added that she misses her fans tremendously, adding that it’s a partnership; what she gives, they give back through their emotions. She says it’s amazing how she feels the same way every time the curtain opens.
I Am: Céline Dion will premiere on Prime Video on June 25, 2024.
