Denji is finally returning to action, as Chainsaw Man is getting another season, and MAPPA recently dropped a brand-new trailer to prove it. Season 2, titled Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc, is currently in production and will pick up exactly where the Reze Arc movie, which won many hearts around the world, left off.

Let’s dive into everything we know so far, from the release date and plot to which manga arc will be covered, who is behind the production, whether there have been any changes to the staff, and where you’ll be able to watch it once it’s released.

When Is Chainsaw Man Season 2 Coming Out?

Short answer: nobody knows yet. MAPPA first announced the Assassins Arc at Jump Festa in December 2025, but all we got was a key visual showing Denji and other new characters who will appear in the anime. More recently, on June 19, 2026, MAPPA’s 15th Anniversary livestream dropped a trailer, but no release window was announced.

Right now, most outlets are pointing to a 2027 release, with late 2027 being the most commonly suggested window. That’s based on how MAPPA has rolled out similar projects before, like Jujutsu Kaisen’s Culling Game arc, which also took a while to arrive after its announcement.

Since Season 2 isn’t slated for any 2026 broadcast season, don’t expect it to arrive this year. Considering that the anime arguably rivals even the Big Three in popularity, MAPPA likely won’t delay it beyond 2027. We’ll probably get an actual release window in the coming months and a specific release date closer to launch, since that’s standard practice in the industry.

What Is the Plot of Chainsaw Man Season 2?

Season 2 picks up right after the events of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. Denji’s fight with the Bomb Devil made him famous not only in the real world but also within the world of the anime, and not in a good way. Now the entire world knows who he is, and multiple assassins from around the world are after his heart.

A new villain named Santa Claus enters the picture as the arc’s main antagonist, rivaling even Makima, who is often considered one of the best-written female villains of all time. A powerful devil hunter named Quanxi appears as well. Expect this season to be even darker and bloodier than Season 1.

Cast and Crew: Everything We Know

Good news: the main cast is returning this season as well. Kikunosuke Toya returns as Denji, Tomori Kusunoki as Makima, Shogo Sakata as Aki, and Fairouz Ai as Power. Karin Takahashi (Kobeni), Kenjiro Tsuda (Kishibe), and Shiori Izawa (Pochita) are also confirmed to return.

On the production side, Tatsuya Yoshihara is directing this season. He also directed the Reze Arc movie, so expect a similar visual style. In the best-case scenario, we’ll see that same level of quality in the TV anime as well. Hiroshi Seko is back on script duties, and Yasushi Nagura is handling sound direction.

As for new characters like Quanxi, Santa Claus, Cosmo, Tolka, and Hirofumi Yoshida, their voice actors haven’t been announced yet. We’ll probably learn those names closer to the release.

Is There a Trailer for Chainsaw Man Season 2?

Yes, there have been two so far. The first one dropped at Jump Festa in December 2025 and was pretty short. In it, we saw Makima sitting in a movie theater while a few shadows passed by.

This second trailer opens with a creepy shot of a puppet sitting on a bench and reading a newspaper, then cuts to black for a few seconds before jumping to quick glimpses of Quanxi, Hirofumi Yoshida, and hints of the Darkness Devil — one of the most talked-about moments in the manga. The trailer ends with a subtle panning animation that makes it look as if Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga itself has been brought into 3D.

Which Manga Arc Will Chainsaw Man Season 2 Adapt?

Season 2 adapts what is officially called the International Assassins Arc. This is the sixth arc of the manga’s Public Safety Saga, covering chapters 53 through 70, which span Volumes 7 and 8.

This arc is shorter than some of the others, but it is packed with major developments in Denji’s life. It also properly introduces Hell, brings in several new fan-favorite characters, and sets up much of what happens later in Part 1 of Chainsaw Man. It will likely be completed within this season alone.

Where Will Chainsaw Man Season 2 Release on Streaming?

No official streaming platform has been confirmed yet, but you can probably guess where this is headed. Both Season 1 and the Reze Arc movie are currently available on Crunchyroll, with Season 1 also streaming on Hulu and Disney+ in some regions.

Given that pattern, Crunchyroll is the safest bet for the Assassins Arc as well. Streaming details are usually confirmed alongside the official release date, which means we’ll have to wait. Expect the streaming platform announcement to arrive once MAPPA reveals a release window.
