“I’m not gonna lie to her”: Channing Tatum Wants To Come Clean To His 9-Year-Old Daughter About His Dark Past As A Stripper
Channing Tatum is one of the most successful actors of this era, appearing in hits like The Lost City, 21 Jump Street, and Step Up. He is well known for his work in comedy-drama Magic Mike (2012) and its sequel Magic Mike XXL (2015). The actor recently explained that he plans to tell his daughter, 9-year-old Everly, about his stripper past.
Magic Mike was actually based on Tatum’s own experiences as a stripper at the age of 18 before he became an actor. He revealed in his recent interview that he will not lie to her once his daughter is old enough to watch the Magic Mike movies.
Channing Tatum became a stripper at the age of 18
Before becoming a famous actor, Channing Tatum dropped out of Glenville State College in West Virginia to join a local nightclub as a stripper at the age of 18. The actor is widely known for his work in the movie Magic Mike. The movie is actually based on Tatum’s own experiences as a stripper before he became an actor. The sequel to the movie, Magic Mike XXL was released in 2015. The actor plans to tell his 9-year-old daughter, Everly, about his stripper days once she is old enough to watch the Magic Mike movies.
The actor will tell his daughter about his stripper past
The actor shares Everly with Jenna Dewan. The two nearly dated for a decade as they got married in 2009 and ended their marriage in November 2019. After the split, the actor “became best friends” with his daughter. He recently revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that he will tell his daughter about his stripper past. He said,
There’s no version of me not having the conversation of ‘Dad didn’t just do them in movies, I was an actual stripper.’ I’m not gonna lie to her.
The actor once revealed that he was able to earn somewhere between $50-$150 per night during his stripper days.
Channing Tatum shares Everly with Jenna Dewan
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan got married in 2009 and were together for nearly a decade as they announced their separation in April 2018. The two met while filming the movie Step Up in 2006. They have one child together, a daughter named Everly. Their divorce was finalized in 2019 and Tatum recently explained how the split helped him in bonding with his daughter.
“I just dropped everything and just focused on her. It was truly the best possible thing that I ever could have done. [The split] was probably exactly what I needed. I don’t think I would’ve ever done the work … on myself.”
The actor is now dating Zoë Kravitz but he recently stated that he is unsure whether he wants to get married again or have more kids.
