Characters From The MCU’s Phase 1 Who May Return In The Thunderbolts Series
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is well-known for its meticulous attention to detail. With so many projects under its belt, the series has made certain that each film, aside from having its own plot, plays an important role in the cinematic world. They have accomplished this over time by incorporating story points into the films that have later played key roles. Marvel also values each and every character in its films, no matter how little their parts are. They’ve frequently stored particular characters just to have them appear in later projects with fairly vital functions. This is a way of paying tribute to the characters who have been stolen from comic books and have their own audience. Let’s take a look at some Phase 1 characters who may make a comeback in Thunderbolts.
6. Secretary Ross:
This brings us back to the beginnings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since this character appeared in the franchise’s second film, The Incredible Hulk. General Thaddeus Ross, depicted by William Hurt, was involved in the events of the movies far earlier than the film indicates. After becoming Secretary of State, the figure became a stumbling block in the way of the Avengers since he executed the Sokovia Accords.
We last saw him in this year’s Black Widow, when he was motivated to get Natasha after she betrayed him and helped Captain America escape. However, if we follow the events in chronological order, Ross appears in Avengers: Infinity War, when he orders James Rhodes to arrest Captain America. In the comics, the figure is crucial in the formation of the Thunderbolts team. The character’s continued existence in the MCU may ensure that he continues to play this role, and he may eventually become the MCU’s Red Hulk.
5. Emil Blonsky:
Emil Blonsky, played by Tim Roth, was the main antagonist in The Incredible Hulk, and he was a formidable foe as the Abomination due to his larger features than the Hulk. Even if the film is forgettable in comparison to earlier films in the franchise, the final fight was a treat for fans to see. Blonsky is transformed into the Abomination after ingesting gamma-irradiated blood from Bruce Banner.
We recently saw the character make a cameo with Wong in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. They look to be nice to each other, as they compete in a cage competition in Macau, China, to earn money. The character will also appear in the Disney+ original series “She-Hulk.” It’s worth noting that Abomination was meant to be a part of the Avengers Initiative before Hulk was ever conceived. This definitely becomes a source of motivation for the character to be included in a team like the Thunderbolts, and he also has a link to General Ross, so his return in this project becomes more conceivable.
4. Samuel Sterns:
This was the only appearance in the MCU that had not yet been addressed in the series. Dr. Samuel Sterns, played by Tim Blake Nelson, appears in the MCU as a professor at Grayburn College and a well-known cellular scientist in The Incredible Hulk. He spoke with Bruce Banner and assisted him in determining a possible remedy to the gamma mutation. As Emil Blonsky turns into the Abomination after injecting Banner’s gamma radiated blood into his body, we witness some of Banner’s blood fall on his expanding skull. According to the comics, Samuel Sterns is the Leader, a wicked genius and the Hulk’s arch-enemy. Given that this character hasn’t been mentioned since those events, we may anticipate Marvel bringing him back.
3. Justin Hammer:
Iron Man 2’s villain, Justin Hammer, played by Sam Rockwell, was a lot of fun to play. At the end of the film, he is identified as the mastermind behind the devastation produced by the robots developed by Whiplash. We last saw him in the Marvel One-Shot: Hail To The King in jail, following the events of Iron Man 2’s capture. There is a possibility that the figure became free in the post-Blip world and so returned to the company. Working with the Thunderbolts may really benefit him now that Tony Stark is no longer alive.
2. Christine Everhart:
Fans of the MCU will notice that Christine Everhart has appeared in a number of productions throughout the years. Leslie Bibb’s character was initially featured in Iron Man as Tony Stark’s early lover. She was intended to conduct a Vanity Fair story on Tony Stark but ended up being one of his numerous conquests. Later, in Iron Man 2, the character returned to perform a similar profile on Justin Hammer. But we’d soon see her as an anchor for the WHIiH Newsfront, doing previews for other Marvel films like Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War. She’d also feature in the Disney+ animated series What If…?, with Leslie Bibb reprising her role as the character’s voice. She’d also make an appearance in the Disney+ animated series What If…? Leslie Bibb reprises her role as the character’s voice.
1. William Ginter Riva:
Most of the villains in the MCU have arisen as a result of Tony Stark’s blunders, and this is no exception. William Ginter Riva, played by Pete Billingsley, was a scientist at Stark Industries. Under Obediah Stane’s directions, he had failed to recreate Stark’s concept for the Arc Reactor. Later, the character goes on to collaborate with Quentin Beck since they both have a hatred against Stark. Following the events of the film, there is a potential that Riva could have escaped from the authorities unharmed. He is the one who delivered Mysterio’s message to J. Jonah Jameson, so exposing Peter Parker to the rest of the world. This guy may be able to assist the Thunderbolts and pave the road for his return.
