Chris Evans Sets Out a Few Conditions For Marvel For His Return as Captain America
Chris Evans’s charismatic portrayal of Captain America left an indelible mark on the ever-evolving Marvel Cinematic Universe. Evans’s character, Steve Rogers (Captain America) was a heart-of-gold leader to the Avengers. Rogers eventually passed on the shield to Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie.
However, fans have been hoping and speculating Evans’s return to the MCU. As Marvel prepares for the relatively new Phase 6, it is quite unlikely for previous characters to return. But with Marvel, you never know.
Evans has mentioned the possibility of his return to the superhero world of adventure; which caused excitement among fans. Although, it won’t be that easy.
Chris Evans Opens the Door to His Marvel Return
Chris Evans rose to global stardom through his portrayal of Captain America. The journey of scrawny young man Steve Rogers, who went on to become the heart of gold to the Avengers was a main narrative stem in the first three phases of MCU.
If it wasn’t the most heartbreaking event of Avengers: Endgame, certainly there is more than one; Evans’s exit from the franchise was not easy for the fans. Seeing Sam Wilson get appointed as the new Captain America; officially marked a new era for Marvel, quite literally.
However, in an interview Evans did before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the actor said he isn’t completely closed off to the idea of donning the Captain America suit again.
While speaking with GQ, Evans let his sentiments on the subject known saying:
“I’ll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience. But I’m also very precious with it. It’s something that I am very proud of. And like I said, sometimes I can’t believe it even happened.”
Evans has given a minuscule hope to fans, but he does have some conditions for the same.
Chris Evans Has Conditions For Comeback
While Evans is open to making a comeback, it is not happening the the near future. The Gifted star made that abundantly clear saying that it would be happening “no time soon”.
Moreover, Evans said that he would only do it if some of his conditions were met. The actor specified that he would only do it if the storyline actually warranted it. He wouldn’t want to do it for the financial gains or for the sake of nostalgia. Until and unless his presence, however small or big, would serve the plot, and make an impact; he would refrain from taking on the role again.
“And I wouldn’t want the black eye if it felt like a cash grab or if it didn’t live up to expectations or if it just felt like it wasn’t connected to that original thing. So, no time soon.”
Evans has taken a break from acting and is currently enjoying a newly married life with Portuguese actress Alba Baptista.
