Last month, at the Nintendo Direct presentation, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto revealed the release date along with the full cast for the Super Mario movie. Mario’s voice will be given by the Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt. We know how sneaky Pratt can get. And Chris just shared a hilarious first look at the movie with an amazing fan edit that reimagines Chris’ Peter Quill from Guardians of the Galaxy as Mario.

Chris took Instagram to share the video in which a fan has taken a scene from Guardians of the Galaxy in which Peter takes the PowerStone and there is a superimposed Super Mario video game sound effects and it also adds other Super Mario game elements.

And the outcome is extremely funny.

Chris Pratt wrote “Amazing first look at Super Mario Brothers. This is going to be epic”

Pratt did get nostalgic while sharing his memory about Super Mario Bros. He stated “There was this coin-operated laundromat near my house, and it had Super Mario Bros., the original arcade game. I loved that game.” He said he used to steal quarters out of a wishing fountain to play the game. He went on to add “The quarter I stole out of the wishing well to play Super Mario Bros. has come true that I get to be the voice of Mario, but I clearly stole someone else’s wish. So just waiting for that row of karma dominoes to come crashing down on me, but as it is right now, it’s- a me, Mario.”

Miyamoto is looking forward to bring a new piece of entertainment bringing Super Mario Bros. to life on screen and hoping that all fans enjoy it.

The Super Mario animated film from Illumination and Nintendo is scheduled to release on December 21, 2022.
