Chris Rock Unable To Get Over Jada Pinkett Smith as the Actress Claims Being Confused With Will Smith’s Slap as “Skit”
There have been a lot of things coming up just after Jada Pinkett Smith confessed what’s happening in real between her and Will Smith. And this time it’s about the actor and comedian Chris Rock not getting over the Girls Trip actress.
The infamous slap at the Oscars is still in talks as it troubled not only the Smiths but Chris Rock too. After Will Smith slapped Rock at the 2022 Oscars for cracking a joke on Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head, reports claim the comedian has still not overcome it yet especially when Pinkett Smith labeled the slap as a skit.
Chris Rock Struggled After Jada Pinkett Smith Thought The Slap was a Skit
The slap at the 2022 Academy Awards is something that needs no introduction as it was a highly unexpected incident that startled the whole world. As a result, Will Smith was banned from attending the Academy Awards for a decade after slapping Chris Rock. There have been claims suggesting that Rock is still not over that incident especially when Jada Pinkett Smith revealed to People that she assumed the slap was a comedic act by the two acclaimed actors. She said:
“I thought, ‘This is a skit, I was like, ‘There’s no way that Will hit him.’ It wasn’t until Will started to walk back to his chair that I even realized it wasn’t a skit.”
Soon after the Scream 2 actress’s comments came, Chris Rock in his Netflix special titled Selective Outrage, indirectly mentioned and talked about the infamous slap incident. Chris Rock even claimed that Pinkett Smith requested him not to host the 2016 Oscars as her husband wasn’t nominated. He joked that the Men in Black actor gave him a concussion in return. But the actress’s close insiders claim that this isn’t true and Chris Rock has been obsessed with the actress for almost 30 years.
However, Will Smith has apologized to the comedian numerous times and admitted that he “lost it”. Chris Rock has refrained from publicly commenting on Smith’s apologies and only mentioned the incident and things related to the 2022 Oscars in his Netflix special.
Chris Rock Had to Seek Therapy To Overcome The Infamous Slap
After the whole world was shocked by witnessing the incident, Chris Rock had to deal with a lot to overcome it. The video of the comedian being smacked by the Oscar-winning actor surfaced everywhere online and eventually affected not only Rock but her daughters and family too.
Leslie Jones, an incredible actress and one of Rock’s close pals revealed in an interview with People that her friend had to go for counseling with his daughters. The Ghostbusters star expressed disappointment and rage at Will Smith for humiliating her friend in the worst way. The Top Five star said: “It made me so infuriated, I was so f—ing mad on so many levels.” Jones added:
“That s— was humiliating, It really affected him. People need to understand his daughters, his parents, saw that. He had to go to counseling with his daughters.”
The actress stated that she was upset for a long after this incident and explained how embarrassing it was for the actor to deal with all the unwanted attention he was getting, especially after Jada Pinkett Smith’s comments went viral for claiming the incident was a humorous act put up by the actors.
