Recently, Gayle King was offered a hefty raise, which has reportedly caused a lot of heartburn to the employees at the legacy network.
The network has reportedly offered Gayle King a $12M salary for 1 hour of work, while job cuts and other problems plague the network. Their massive and expensive project CNN+ was a huge failure, which hit the network hard. Amidst all the troubles, this latest development comes as yet another controversy plaguing the channel.
Gayle King Offered a Huge Salary For One Hour Of Work At CNN
The CBS This Morning host Gayle King is incredibly talented. She is easily the top television personality today, thanks to her phenomenal work at CBS News. However, if the latest rumors are to be believed the co-anchor is reportedly close to signing a Deal to Host a weekly CNN Primetime Show. She is set to earn $12 Million to host the show for just one hour per week. Gayle King recently spoke at the 2023 Adweek Convergent TV Summit in New York about her future at CBS while also hinting at a possible new job at CNN.
She said,
“I’m very close to CNN head Chris Licht. I like him very much, but on that question, me no speak English.”
Earlier King stated,
“Let’s just say I have two years left on my contract with CBS, and I have no intention of leaving CBS.”
According to reports, CNN had a relatively modest 535,000 primetime viewers in the first quarter of this year, a 35% decrease from the previous year and the network’s lowest quarterly rating average since 2015. The network reportedly laid off 400 employees in December.
A source told Radar Online,
“Everyone has been told there’s no money, yet they’re managing to scrape up the cash to pay Gayle King. It’s incredibly tone-deaf as well as being rude to the hard-working people who’ve been toiling here for years!”
Another source claimed,

According to reports, Gayle King is close to signing a contract, but she has yet to confirm whether she will leave her beloved show at CBS and begin her new venture at CNN. It’s one of the network’s attempts to reclaim viewers by bringing King into the show after several embarrassing incidents resulted in all-time low ratings.

She is an amazing talent and according to the head of the network, she can lead the show to new heights. King has been hosting the CBS morning show for ten years. The television star would be a perfect host for the show if she agreed to sign the deal.
Gayle King is living her American dream, last year she celebrated her tenth anniversary at CBS. In honor of the occasion, she expressed her gratitude towards the network. She said,
“I’ve aged a little bit, but I always wear this yellow dress every anniversary. And what’s funny, James, our wardrobe stylist, said, I don’t mean to be disrespectful or insensitive, but are you sure you can still get in that dress? I said, ‘I’m gonna try, James. I’m gonna try. I can’t breathe, but I’m in the dress. I’m just so excited that it’s my 10th anniversary, that I’m still here!”
Gayle King is currently co-hosting CBS This Morning with her two other hosts, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson. According to reports, former professional basketball player Charles Wade Barkley and Gayle King can host a new show together at CNN.
