“Completely False”: Katie Holmes Had Enough of the Lies About Tom Cruise and Their Daughter Suri Cruise
- Katie Holmes has finally broken her silence about a claim the Daily Mail made about her daughter.
- The Rare Objects actress has debunked the claims that her daughter, Suri Cruise has become a millionaire.
- Holmes has always been protective of her daughter's privacy and intends to keep doing so.
Ever since Katie Holmes split from Tom Cruise in 2012 after six years of marriage, the Dawson’s Creek actress has done her best to protect their daughter from the constant media scrutiny that comes with the kind of fame she and her ex-husband have. While most of those efforts have been fruitful, the media does report Suri Cruise’s life updates every now and then.
There is no telling how much of what the media reports is true, but Holmes made no efforts to debunk any of the reports, that is, until recently. A couple of days ago, an outlet reported that Suri Cruise had become a millionaire, thanks to the trust fund her estranged father had set up for her. But Holmes, who has recently returned to Broadway, took to her social media to slam those claims.
Katie Holmes Rebutted Claims That Her Daughter Has Become a Millionaire
Katie Holmes began dating Tom Cruise in April 2005. Months later, they got engaged and welcomed their first child, Suri Cruise in April 2006. Later that year, they tied the knot at the Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, Italy. For five and a half years, they were a happy family, but then Cruise and Holmes decided to part ways, with the latter getting full custody of their young daughter.
In the years since then, it has been often reported that the Mission: Impossible star has become estranged from his daughter. In fact, her alleged name change has put her in the same ranks as Brad Pitt’s kids. However, even this was not something the Batman Begins actress tried to dispute.
But not so long ago, the Daily Mail reported that Suri Cruise had become a millionaire after her trust fund from her father Tom Cruise recently kicked in. A source had told the outlet:
It is part of the divorce deal that a trust fund provided by Tom Cruise be shared with daughter Suri Cruise when she turns 18, and it is substantial. She was allowed to access it when she turned 18 in April. The rest of the money will become available to her once she enters her 30s.
Another source claimed that Holmes also has a trust fund for her daughter. However, the actress recently took to Instagram to debunk this. She wrote, “Completely false. Daily Mail you can stop making stuff up,” over a screenshot of the article. The caption read, “Enough.” This indicates that she is done with all the lies being made up about her only child.
Katie Holmes Has Expressed Her Hopes About Protecting Her Daughter from the Spotlight
Although Holmes is a proud single mother to a brilliant daughter, she rarely speaks about her child in public which seems to be a way of keeping her young adult daughter out of the spotlight. In a cover story for Glamour back in 2023, she expressed as much when asked to describe what it is like to be a mother to a teenage girl (Suri Cruise was not 18 yet at the time).
What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her. I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person.
That said, Cruise has sung for two of her mother’s movie projects, Alone Together and Rare Objects. In the interview with Glamour, Holmes admitted that she always asks her daughter to become a part of her projects and that it was very meaningful for her to have Cruise become a part of her work.
