After the defamation trial, Amber Heard became the target as the decision came in favor of Johnny Depp. For the sake of her daughter, Oonagh Paige, Amber Heard decided to take a break from her acting profession. However, she is returning to the big screen with her upcoming film, In The Fire.

In an interview with Deadline, Heard while discussing her upcoming film, commented on the criticism she received after the defamation trial. The 37-year-old faced major backlash from Depp’s fans regarding her role in  Aquaman 2. DC and Warner Bros., consequently, have decided to cut her on-screen time in the film in the hope of its success.

The London Fields actress spoke about the pressure the franchise faced and how compromises are part of making a movie successful. She said,

“These are very different kinds of projects representing two very different ends of the spectrum in my industry. There’s a ton of pressure on these big franchise movies, with millions and millions of dollars at stake, and compromises are part of trying to make it the most successful thing it can be.”

While speaking about her upcoming film, Heard added,

“Then on the other end of the spectrum is a small indie film like ‘In The Fire,’ a work of art and work of love, with nowhere near the same resources, and so there are compromises there. The best luck you can have as an actor is to be able to balance both.”

The Never Back Down actress will reprise her role of Princess Mera in Aquaman 2. The 37-year-old also opened up about being honored for being part of this franchise. She said,

“Aquaman,’ that franchise and the machinery behind it, I’m very honored, honored to be a part of that. And then there are these small passion projects like ‘In The Fire,’ where I’m proud to have gotten to know the filmmaker and the cast.”

Aquaman 2 is the sequel to the financially successful Jason Momoa-led Aquaman and the final film of the former DC slate. The studios hoped of ending the chapter on a high note, but the failure of The Flash and other movies has jeopardized it.
