However, little did the actress Daisy Ridley know that the street and anxiety she had due to the extreme admiration among fans for Star Wars would take a toll on her health. Despite the filmmaker J.J. Abrams’s advice, comparing the franchise to a religion and explaining the immense impact of Star Wars, Ridley decided to step in as Rey.

When she initially entered the science fiction franchise, Ridley got mixed reviews from fans, but the aftermath of her broader involvement in the Star Wars franchise severely impacted her health, leading to stomach problems.

However, director J.J. Abrams gave a strong piece of advice to Daisy Ridley, explaining that people are extremely passionate about Star Wars. He compared the franchise with religion, expressing the scale of impact it can have on her. According to GQ, The Force Awakens star shared:

“Understand the scale. This is not a role in a movie. This is a religion for people. It changes things on an inconceivable level.”

Initially, Ridley was mesmerized by being one of the significant characters of Star Wars, but when she faced negative comments and how some people didn’t enjoy her portrayal, she added:

“For friends and family, or any people who see something in a slightly different way than you do, there’s this projection of you, and you in that world, and how it feels to do this and that. And you’re like, ‘Well, actually, I’m just a human being, separate from that.'”

Daisy Ridley stated that developing stress and anxiety due to the unwanted comments she received, causing severity in her gut problem. Not only did she suffer a disturbed stomach, but it also caused holes in it. The anxiety led her body to become skinny and fatigued with time. However, when the actress sought medical help, the Balance of the Force star managed to cope with anxiety and stress.

Daisy Ridley once opened up about how her privacy was invaded, and to cope with that, she had to delete her Instagram account. People would interrupt Ridley between her meals just to take pictures with her, and while it may seem to be quite appealing to many, considering how curious fans are about the star, the Chaos Walking star’s journey turned even more painful.

Ridley shared her further experience and said:

“I saw a picture of me at the London premiere and I was so skinny and my skin was terrible…  I was just so tired. I was becoming a ghost.”

However, despite the unwanted attention and negative reception Ridley faced, she also mentioned that many enjoyed her role and appreciated her work in the Star Wars franchise. The actress is all set for another hit project of the franchise, which is set for a release in 2026.
