Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Provides An Important Update On The Upcoming Star Wars Movie

During an interview with the famous media platform CNN, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy spoke about her upcoming directorial venture with the billion dollar intergalactic franchise, and her collaboration with Daisy Ridley. She said-

“I’m very thrilled about the project because I feel what we’re about to create is something very special.”

As Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is set to become the first female director in the Star Wars Universe, she even discussed about the importance of having a female filmmaker behind the camera. She added-

“We’re in 2024 now, and it’s about time that we had a woman come forward to shape a story in a galaxy far, far away.”

The Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy even spoke about Rey Skywalker’s character and teased that the young Skywalker would be facing many obstacles on her path to restart the Jedi Order.

Daisy Ridley Feels Rey Is A Strong And Amazing Character In The Star Wars Universe

Daisy Ridley rose to fame with the 2015 release Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The actor would be seen reprising the character of Rey Skywalker in the upcoming Star Wars project. During an interview with the entertainmnet outlet GQ in 2019, the 31 year old actor spoke about her character. She said-

“There is an interesting conversation that’s happening with this use of ‘strong’. It’s not because Rey is strong that she’s amazing.”

On further explaining about the character of Rey Skywalker, she added-

“It’s all the complexities of a human. It’s because she is a well-drawn person who is struggling with things and you’re with her.”

The British actor revealed that she wasn’t a big a fan of the Star Wars Universe growing up, instead she used to desperately wait for every Harry Potter book and movie. She came across the larger than life appeal of the space opera franchise during her audition.
