In James Gunn and Peter Safran’s forthcoming Superman: Legacy, which will launch a new DC slate, it was announced that David Corenswet will play the Man of Steel. Superman: Legacy, the first movie in Chapter One: Gods and Monsters of James Gunn’s new DC Universe, will set itself apart from Man of Steel by omitting Superman’s origin narrative.

According to Gunn, the movie follows Corenswet’s Clark Kent/Superman as he learns to blend his Kryptonian background with his human upbringing.

Gunn has cast The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star and Golden Globe Award winner Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane opposite David Corenswe. As the filmmaker has found his Superman and Lois, the search for Lex Luthor is still in progress. The filming is expected to begin in early 2024.

Superman: Legacy is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
