The Deadpool actor, Ryan Reynolds recently underwent his first ever colonoscopy and discovered a “subtle polyp” on his colon. The colonoscopy for the movie star was completed by CBS News chief medical correspondent Dr. Jonathan LaPook. The doctor explained to the celebrity that it usually only takes around 30 minutes to complete the procedure. After the actor turned 45 years old which is the new suggested age to start screening for those at risk, he decided to undergo the procedure. Ryan Reynolds personally went to Jonathon LaPook who used to be the actor’s doctor in the past as well. The actor admitted that a colonoscopy is a crucial surgery that everyone, male and female, should have at age 45. It was revealed after the procedure that the Free Guy actor was at risk of colon cancer but the surgery eliminated it.

While undergoing the procedure for the first time, Ryan Reynold decided to broadcast it to spread awareness. The Deadpool actor along with Rob McElhenney, chose to team up with Lead From Behind, a colon cancer awareness initiative. The actor told that his goal is to urge individuals, particularly men, to have the treatment when the time comes. The Green Lantern actor told:

“I would never normally have any medical procedure put on camera and then shared. But it’s not every day that you can raise awareness about something that will most definitely save lives. That’s enough motivation for me to let you in on a camera being shoved up my ass.”
The broadcast was made through a YouTube video that was posted on Ryan Reynold’s channel on Tuesday. The actor and Rob McElhenney stated that they wanted to demonstrate how the “simple step” can “save lives.” The video ended with the message that colon cancer is preventable displayed across a black screen.
