Emma Corrin talks about gender-neutral award ceremonies
Emma Corrin made quite an impression on the audience when they decided to portray Princess Diana on-screen in the fourth season of The Crown. However, they understood that not everyone, including the Royal Family, was accepting them as Princess Diana, and they were okay with it. During an appearance on the Tamron Hall Show, the actor said,
“I understand why people would be upset because this is history. And even with Diana, it’s still very much fresh—everything that happens. So I do really understand if people would be upset.”
They explained that they approach the people they play on-screen, which is why it’s always such a joy with creator Peter Morgan’s rich and complex characters. Despite acknowledging that a lot of people might not accept them as Princess Diana, they received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress-Television Series, a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series, and a Hollywood Critics Association TV Award for Best Actress in a Streaming Series for their brilliant performance.
Emma Corrin also won the Tribute Award for Performance at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival for their work in My Policeman. They also won the Gold Derby TV award for Drama Actress and Breakthrough Performer of the Year. “I don’t think the categories are inclusive enough at the moment. It’s about everyone being able to feel acknowledged and represented.”
They mentioned that the conversation needs to be about having more representation in the material itself, in the content that the audience sees for non-binary people, queer people, and trans people. They added that when those parts come up, there will be more urgency with which the questions will be addressed.

A newly released trailer for one of the highly anticipated movies of 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine, showcased Emma Corrin as Professor X’s evil twin sister. Ahead of the release of the movie, Corrin, in an interview with Empire Magazine, expressed their excitement over starring in an MCU movie. They said,
“I feel really excited to play a villain. I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch. I’d heard about the project, but, classic Marvel, they couldn’t tell me anything about it. Absolutely nothing. Zilch. So I met Shawn Levy, being like, ‘I don’t know what this is about.’”
They mentioned that they genuinely do understand why the characters mean so much to so many people, adding that it’s a phenomenon and they feel really lucky to be a part of the movie. Corrin added that they love the fact that it’s self-aware and critical of its inner workings.
The movie is going to see Corrin as Cassandra Nova, who is regarded as one of the most dangerous villains in the X-Men series. The character has all the powers of Charles Xavier without any of the moral or physical barriers. Fans are excited to witness Corrin’s acting on-screen and expecting a top-notch performance just like they portrayed Princess Diana.
Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled for release on July 26, 2024.
