The previous film followed Steve Carell‘s Gru as the main character who interestingly turned out to be a beloved father after behaving similarly to an angry man. The iconic minions in the films have been a major contribution to the animated films’ success, which even led to their spin-offs. The film series is considered the perfect blend of humor and a compelling storyline, making each character stand out. As the rumors keep on spreading, fans have expressed their anticipation and excitement for the fourth installment on social media, notably X (earlier Twitter).

The villains in the Despicable Me film series are equally engaging as the other characters. As the fourth installment approaches from the hands of acclaimed writer Mike White, Despicable Me 4 will most likely feature a new and formidable adversary like Balthazar Bratt, played by Trey Parker in the last movie. Illumination has concealed the details about the villain and plot, but our fan-favorite Steve Carell teased some elements during an interview with Digital Spy. The actor said:

“It’s a continuation of the story. Gru and Lucy [voiced by Kristen Wiig] are married; they’re a family at this point. It’s the next step in their world with the Anti-Villain League and how their kids are included in the whole process. It’s the most logical next step in the continuation of their story as a family together.”

Considering The Office star’s details, Gru and his family are set for another anti-villain league. The supervillain will cause harrowing world-ending events, and only Gru, along with his incredible family, can help solve this. Following the rumors surrounding the teaser, fans seem to be approving of it through social media:

This summer is expected to be as thrilling as last year’s when fans witnessed some of the massive hit movies of 2023. The Super Bowl LVIII is set for Sunday, February 11, 2024, which means we’re sure close to witnessing a glimpse of Gru and the minions.

Despicable Me 4 will be released on July 3, 2024.
