While talking about the plot points of Ballerina, Keanu Reeves shed light on Rooney’s personality and revealed that she’s quite an intriguing character. Ballerina takes place between the third and fourth John Wick films, particularly six months after John Wick 3.

While speaking to Collider, the Man of Tai Chi star said:

“[she is a] woman who has some very difficult circumstances and who’s looking for revenge. Whoever killed her- someone killed her father. Who could that be? And so it’s her journey for actually understanding her past.”

The actor describes Rooney as a tough woman, who’s determined to take revenge, and adds:

“She lost her father at a young age, and she doesn’t really know what happened. Only that someone came into the house and killed her father, who had a tattoo. And as we know in John Wick, if you have a tattoo, something’s going on.”

Ballerina will also depict the similarities between Rooney and John, and how they both can connect. It’s like telling the backstory of Reeves’ character but through a different character. However, now that the film’s release date has been rescheduled, fans have to keep waiting.

Ballerina comes out on June 6, 2025.
