The Super Bowl spot for Avengers: Endgame may have been shorter than a full length trailer, but it gave fans more insight than one might expect. Many fans noticed various subtle hints in the trailer about the film’s plot, but there have been many more clues towards the events of the biggest MCU entry till date.

A new fan theory that’s been doing rounds on Reddit suggests that one of the Avengers may actually be amidst claiming an Infinity Stone in the Endgame TV spot footage.

Is it Hawkeye?

Hawkeye aka Clint Barton was absent from Avengers: Infinity War. Alongside Scott Lang, he traded a normal life for their involvement in the superhero activities after the events of the Civil War. But the trailers reveal that even if he missed Infinity War, Clint survived Thanos’ snap. He appears to have taken the moniker of Ronin, who’s a more aggressive hero than Hawkeye if we go by the comics.

Many fans suggest that Hawkeye lost his family, thanks to Thanos’ snap. He had three children and a wife and it would be surprising if none of his family members were snapped when Thanos used the Infinity Gauntlet. Losing the family was so special to him that he had even recruited Nick Fury to keep them safe. But how far will it push him in Avengers: Endgame?

Time travel has been in theory for a long time. In popular theories, characters like Captain Marvel or Doctor Strange use their powers to bring back the departed heroes and civilians to life. But to achieve, remaining heroes will have to do something difficult and make sacrifices, which may explain where Hawkeye is in the Avengers TV spot.

In the latest trailer, we see Hawkeye briefly in a strange setting. There are rocks around him, suggesting it’s not an urban surrounding. Reddit user u/ak2sup suggest that Hawkeye’s presence might be a major clue regarding the film’s arc. The shot shows Clint looking up with a serious expression on his face. As the theory states, Clint is seen in his usual Hawkeye outifit here.

This suggests that the sequence may take place after Black Widow has come to him in Japan when he was working as Ronin. Either Clint returns to his former self as Hawkeye or if may be an altered version from the last. However, the background in the sense suggests that the location where Hawkeye is could be the same as Jane Foser in Thor: The Dark World.

Jane discovered the Reality stones in The Dark World. She was transported to the hiding place for the Stone. The Reality altering power of the Stone led to the Dark Elves resuming their battle with Asgard, the death of Queen Frigga and dethroning of Odin. With Odin out of the scene, it became easier for Thanos to go after all other Infinity Stones. If the stone was never claimed by Jane, it may change the future in many ways. The Reality Stone came in the second phase of MCU, but it might be the most important stone in the fight against Thanos. If the heroes grab the stone before the Mad Titan, the fight will be theirs.

Thanks to Ant-Man and time travel, we think that this is achievable. Set photos also reveal the scenes of the first battle of New York from 2012’s Avengers. However, having access to the power of the Quantum Realm may allow Hawkeye to slip into the fray and do something important to fight against Thanos and avenge his family. The shot of the trailer in question may suggest that reality stone is the target Hawkeye is sent to achieve.

All questions will be answered when Avengers: Endgame releases on April 26.
