Disney has made headlines around the world for its animated project that went on to gross millions at the box office, but this time, the billion-dollar production studio is under scanner for all the wrong reasons. A few employees have come forward with the reality of the reputed studio in front of the world.

Whistleblower Claims- Disney Paid Employees Depending Upon How Woke They Were

Imagine one has to be woke and be in terms with the latest trends around the world to be paid at one of the biggest production studios in the world. According to the reputed media outlet, Radar Online, recently a Disney whistleblower made shocking claims about Disney that show the famous studio in a negative light. As per the allegations made by the whistleblower, the employees were paid on the basis of DEI- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The conservative workers were targeted by Disney based on how woke they were.

The allegations of the unknown whistleblower were brought forward by YouTuber WDW Pro. According to the content creator, the employees who voiced their opinion had to face the consequences also.  WDW Pro mentioned-

“We’re talking about bonuses that you might not receive if you went afoul of [Latondra] Newton, the prior Chief Diversity Officer of Disney if you went afoul of her belief systems. [If] you espouse political beliefs in the workplace, or outside the workplace, or on social media and those political or sociocultural beliefs did not align with very far left views then you could expect to be sent to HR to have some serious conversations and discussions.”

He further continued-

“So if you went beyond not just filling out your Word doc where you had DEI requirements noted for your MBO document, let’s say, but instead you were actually on social media saying that you supported some sort of conservative value you were going to be brought into HR.”

The YouTuber claimed that Disney has already laid off a majority of their conservative staff from the company. He even shared that Disney’s DEI- intensive policy majorly centered around the personal participation of the employees in the Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.

Disney Uses Unethical Ways To Create The Digital Replicas Of The Background Actors

Amidst the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, recently a group of background actors from the set of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Vision revealed how Disney has turned their fears into reality. According to the allegations made by the group of background artists during an interview with the media outlet NPR, they had to go through a scanning process so that their digital replicas can be kept for future use. A background actor from Los Angeles Rebecca Safier, even mentioned-

“You don’t know what’s going to get back to casting. You don’t know if they’re going to call up casting and say, ‘Oh this person is being difficult,’ and not hire them again because that’s how the system works. It’s getting into this gray area of, ‘what are they going to use it for in the future?'”

An associate professor at Drexel University’s film and TV department pointed out how the budget of the projects would be impacted due to the digital extras. He said-

“The actors, extras, and writers are right to see this moment as their best chance to set up what the rules should be in the use of AI and the people in the background, who tend to have no real power and are treated badly, should be standing up for themselves here.”

With technological advancements and AI, the future of background artists lies in uncertainty. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have brought forward almost everything, from the malpractices to the insensitive behavior of the employees by the reputed studios and production houses.
