‘Do people just dance or leave the room?’: Shakira Admitted Her Dance Skills are So Insanely Intimidating People Either Become Super Awkward or Run Away From the Dance Floor
Shakira is one of the fiercest and most talented performers in the world and that’s a fact. Her dance moves have been bangers for over two decades now and she is the uncrowned queen of the Latin music industry. Her videos have billions of views on YouTube and have remained a sensation through the years.
This year has been one of the roughest for the Columbian singer, who went through a harsh separation from her partner of 12 years, Gerard Pique following his cheating scandal. In addition, she has to fight a court battle against the Spanish Tax Authorities as well. Despite braving through a world of troubles, dancing is something she has never let go of.
Shakira had a dance-off with Jimmy Fallon
Back in June, Pique and Shakira had announced their split and soon rumors spread of the former cheating on his baby mama with a woman in her early 20s. It was at this time that the Waka Waka singer made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Her music video Te Felicito had been out for a few weeks and was doing really well.
Fallon made full use of the 45-year-old’s dancing talent and decided to start the episode with a ‘Watch It Once TikTok Challenge with Shakira’. As the name suggests, the contenders got to watch a TikTok dance challenge once and they had to recreate it the best they could with their memory. The duo kicked off the challenge with the wildly popular lazy-dancing track that goes, “My money don’t jiggle jiggle, it folds…” Needless to say, Shakira beat Fallon to a pulp with this choreography. And the host is not one to act like a sore loser, especially against the dancing legend herself.
Everyone’s intimidated by Shakira’s dance moves
Later in the episode, the 48-year-old comedian remarked how the dance-off was “a lot of pressure” precisely because he was up against Shakira. He then went on to ask the mother of two if that pressure was felt by everyone around her or if he was just feeling extra-ordinarily nervous.
“When people are around you, like, at a party or a wedding, it’s intimidating, right? Do people even dance, or do they just leave the room?”
To this, the Whenever Wherever singer replied with a big laugh and said while bouncing her shoulders sideways, “They do your moves,” which Fallon dubbed as the ‘sneaking out move’. In conclusion, the move that people do to slowly leave the dance floor without acting awkward. And it obviously doesn’t come off as a surprise. You wouldn’t want to exhibit your painting next to a Monet or Van Gogh either.
