Sharon Stone is one of the most iconic Hollywood actresses who holds a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a nomination for an Academy Award. She also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1995 to immortalize her contribution to Hollywood. She was primarily known for playing the roles of femme fatales and women of mystery in movies and was one of the most popular s*x symbols of 1990s Hollywood.

One of her most well-known and daring works is Basic Instinct, which immediately gained international fame. However, Sharon Stone was far from happy, as she had to face many difficulties being s*xualized to the point where she lost custody of her son.

Sharon Stone’s Basic Instinct role was the reason why she lost custody of her son

In an interview for iHeartRadio’s Table for Two With Bruce Bozzi podcast, Sharon Stone dug deeper into her past and opened up about the horrifying dark side of being portrayed as the Hollywood s*x symbol for years. She especially focused on her role in Basic Instinct and the fallout effect it had throughout her life. While talking about the effect it had on her custody battle for her adopted son Roan, she said:

“When the judge asked my child — my tiny little boy, ‘Do you know your mother makes sex movies?’ Like, this kind of abuse by the system — that I was considered what kind of parent I was because I made that movie.”

She ultimately lost custody of her child over a shot that was included in the movie without her consent or full knowledge by Verhoeven, as said in Stone’s memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice. According to her, custody was bestowed on Phil Bronstein while she had to sustain herself with only visitation rights, and she went through mental and physical health changes.

She was hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic later that year due to problems with “extra heartbeats in the upper and lower chambers.” According to the actress, the situation “literally broke my heart.” She even went on to say she finds it so unfair how she was treated:

“People are walking around with no clothes on at all on regular TV now, and you saw maybe like a sixteenth of a second of possible nudity of me—and I lost custody of my child. Are you kidding?”

It is not just the custody of her son; she also felt like she lost her dignity at the Golden Globe Awards when she was announced as a nominee and many people in the room laughed.

“It was horrible. I was so humiliated. Does anyone have any idea how hard it was to play that part? How gut-wrenching? How frightening? To try and carry this complex movie that was breaking all boundaries and everyone was protesting against, and the pressure. I auditioned for it for nine months. They offered it to 13 other people and now you’re laughing at me. I just wanted to crawl into a hole.”

Sharon Stone ended on a note that people should not confuse actors with what role they are playing before adding that what she faced in her custody battle for her adopted son should be “illegal.”

Sharon Stone comes out saying ex-Sony head s*xually harassed her in 1980s

Sharon Stone recently appeared on the podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera and alleged that an unnamed Sony executive had exposed himself to a meeting. The executive was apparently a former head of Sony, and the meeting happened when she first moved to Los Angeles in the 1980s. According to her account of the incident:

“It’s true what they say about you and you’re the most gorgeous. We haven’t seen anyone like you in decades. Everybody’s talking about you, and look at you. You’re the most articulate. You’re so smart and beautiful – and that hair. Then he went, came walking right up in front of me, and he said, ‘But first,’ and he took his p*nis right out in my face.”

Stone actually became hysterical, and the executive backed off and left through a back door. Later, his secretary escorted her out of the office. Sharon Stone said she could not speak about the incident before, as Sony would have never hired her again.

Sharon Stone’s 2021 memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice, highlights many of the experiences she had to go through. According to her, she felt pressured to tell her story of being s*xually abused in Hollywood after the #MeToo movement, which exposed many high-profile figures for abusing their power by s*xually mistreating people.
