“Do you realize there is a strike happening?”: Kim Kardashian Gets Called Out For Her “Insensitive” Tweet Amid Writers Strike
Major film studios and streaming sites have come to a standstill since the writer’s strike started back on May 2nd. The demands put forward by the Writer’s Guild of America include better compensation and employment guarantee for the writers among many others. However, the two bodies WGA and AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers) have not reached an agreement yet.
Amid all this Kim Kardashian’s update while timing for American Horror Story season 12 got many WGA members and supporters disappointed and furious. They all expressed their fury at the socialite with some taking an indirect jibe and others straight-up slamming the socialite.
Kim Kardashian Slammed For Insensitive Tweet
Recently Kim Kardashian announced that she had started filming the upcoming season 12 of American Horror Story. Although there seems to be no issue with this, however many think that it was insensitive of her to share such news amid the Writer’s Strike. She tweeted,
“Hi, guys! I’m on the set of AHS, and we have some time between shots. What are you all up to????
For those who might not know, the strike led by the Writer’s Guild of America has been going on since the 2nd of May. And as a result, many writers in the industry around 11k of them have been out of their jobs.
Moreover, the strike also halted various shows that were supposed to be released soon.
Amid this, naturally, Kardashian’s update seems to have come at a very wrong time. Many took to Twitter to diss and slam the socialite with one tweet that questioned her asking,
“Do you realize there is a strike happening”
While another joked by responding with,
“Sitting at home since no work due to strike.”
It makes sense why the update by Kardashian, did not sit right with many people considering the situation.
A Brief Look at Writer’s Strike
It is the second time since 2008 that the Writer’s Guild of America or WGA went on a strike. This time, the demands put forward by the organization included better compensation, an assured Writer’s room guarantee for a fixed number of employees, and the rejection of AI scripts to fully replace real writers. And since the strike began on May 2nd, many of the writers have been out of employment.
However, the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers (AMPTP) has not yet reached a solid deal with the WGA as of yet. Furthermore as a result many upcoming projects have been halted since the strike began due to a lack of script writers.
